Aidan O’Brien clarifies Prix de Jockey Club plans
With The Lion In Winter and Delacroix heading to Epsom, the master of Ballydoyle has left two in for the Chantilly Classic.
Aidan O'Brien announced his Prix du Jockey Club plans on Monday with The Lion In Winter and Delacroix removed from the Group One Classic next Sunday to head to the Epsom Derby on 7 June. Camille Pissarro and Trinity College remain in contention at Chantilly.
The first named appears to be the Ballydoyle number one according to his trainer when speaking on Nick Luck's podcast:
"I think Cammillo (Camille Pissarro) looks the main one, I would imagine, he was third in the French Guineas and then Trinity College, a horse who was second in the Epsom trial, it looks like at the moment both of those will go, I think at the moment that's what we are thinking of".
Jockey plans are currently unknown but there is every chance Ryan Moore will pick the Group One form of Camille Pissarro over his stable companion, after the Wootton Bassett colt ran on strongly into third in the Poule d'Essai des Poulains (French Guineas) at Longchamp to be nearest at the finish, just a length and a quarter behind stable companion and race favourite Henri Matisse, and Andrew Balding's Jonquil.
