Race Review
Keep An Eye On SA: Blackbooker - Morphettville Parks, 8th November 2025
We've found a horse to follow from Morphettville Parks on Saturday.
Race 6 – Kirkliston Blu (5th)
All honours here with the impressive winner Falaise, who stormed home from well back to win courtesy of a brilliant weaving ride by Jacob Opperman.
But I was taken with the first-up performance of Roslyn Day's Kirkliston Blu, who finish fifth, less than two lengths away.
The horse really came of age as a middle distance and staying prospect last campaign with a series of wins over 2000m and beyond. As a spring five-year-old, I think he can climb even greater heights this preparation and I was buoyed by his return.
Admittedly, he drew low and was given a cosy run behind the leader but he showed some nice dash at the top of the straight and stayed on gamely when several of his sharper rivals sprinted past him.
He may need one more run to really find his sweet spot but once he gets to 2000m and beyond, I think he'll be winning races in a demographic that is traditionally thin in SA.
