Australian thoroughbred meeting are today held at Grafton, Hawkesbury, Swan Hill and Gatton.

GRAFTON: RACE 4 @ 4:40 PM

SO SAIN (9) has done early work to find the lead from wide gates at her last two appearances and dug deep to be narrowly denied on each occasion. Draws the fence this time and is rock-hard fit. This looks her big chance to grab a well-deserved win. RUFUS ATTICUS (7) missed the kick before making late ground to finish midfield when resuming over 1300m at Coonamble last time out. Draws closer than eight for the first time in two preps. Can play a big role. MCCOSKER (3) wasn't expected to do much on debut last start over 1200m at Murwillumbah but he did well to stick on for third after showing pace from the outset. Winkers go on. Winning hope with a bit of natural improvement to come. RAINSITPOURS (5) isn't the most reliable conveyance but if he brings his best a top three finish is on the cards. Keep tabs on HIGHWIRE GIRL (10) wearing blinkers for the first time.
SELECTIONS: So Sain to win.

HAWKESBURY: RACE 7 @ 4:55 PM

THE BIG BLUE (5) six-start maiden who finds his race today despite drawing out. Was a month between runs when nailed late after sitting up on the speed to finish second over 1800m at this track. Fitter here and no excuses today. BLACK BABYLON (1) staying bred type who returned with an eye catching third over the mile here. Will go back from the draw and siege late. Each way. SWING STATE (12) covered ground in the run at his second race start when a fading fourth over 1500m at Kembla Grange. Has a poor set-up today but can run into the minor money. COOL DRINKS (10) stalked the pace when a plugging third over 1600m at Goulburn second-up. Map suits and sure to be thereabouts.
SELECTIONS: The Big Blue to shed his maiden status.

SWAN HILL: RACE 8 @ 5:00 PM

PRINCESS TORO (2) was well supported resuming over 1300m at Bendigo and proved too strong scoring by 1.3L. She jumped a short-priced favourite and spiked her figures. Gets in well with the 3kg claim and has the early speed to manage the awkward gate. Strips fitter and can win again. APPARATUS (3) rates well on his placed effort at Warrnambool first-up, where he settled well back from a wide barrier. He's placed 2/2 second-up and Coffey will give him every chance. BAVETTE (6) made up plenty of ground placing here first-up. Has been kept up to the mark with a winning jumpout and John Allen sticks from that. BAKERSBEND (8) deserved the comfortable Maiden win here heavily-backed and is sure to build on that. Has an outside barrier today but the promising galloper should be good enough to cope.
SELECTIONS: Going with Princess Toro.

GATTON: RACE 3 @ 3:12 PM

The well-related REGGIE'S FOLLY (3) (half to G1 winner Heavens Above) was a narrow winner two back at this track then out of the money last time when fourth here. Drops a little in the weights and can return to winning form. FRIEND IN NEED (9) has been in the placings at her last two, most recently when third over 1550m at Murwillumbah at her third run back from a break. The winkers have been removed for this and expected to be in the finish. DENETTA (5) missed the placings two runs back then did well last start but found one better over 1666m at Ipswich, beaten only 0.7 lengths. Perfectly placed and is sure to prove tough to beat. FOUR ACE (2) has been safely held at his last couple of runs, the latest when he was always well back and never really threatened, finishing tenth over 1300m at Toowoomba. Better than the last couple of runs suggest. Can feature.
SELECTIONS: Backing Reggie's Folly.
