Today’s Horse Racing Tips - 19th May 2025
Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for May 19.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Corowa, Port Macquarie and Horsham.
COROWA: RACE 5 @ 3:25 PM
ABSTRUSE (1) fought on gamely for second despite racing keenly when resuming from a spell at the Sapphire Coast and was then sent to town, finishing not too far off the winner at Randwick just over 3 weeks ago. She is perfectly placed in this company, and with the aid of a 1.5kg claim, she will be very hard to hold out. TYCOON ARTIE (4) showed a lot of courage when finishing third at Wagga last start. He was trapped wide that day off a wide draw, and can expect a softer trip this time from a superior gate. Hard to beat. PERFECTLY GOOD (2) won a trial before finishing second by a short-head at Wodonga fresh up nearly 4 weeks ago. He is having his second start for a new trainer, and can go one better. SHELLY'S ACE (8) has been running on in all of her 3 starts this prep. The extra 200m should suit, so stick with her. ACE OF LACE (10) has the advantge of the pole position, and is worth each-way consideration.
SELECTIONS: Abstruse to win.

PORT MACQUARIE: RACE 3 @ 1:20 PM
LUNE D'EXCELLENCE (9) returned after a year on the sidelines with an impressive fourth last start over 1300m at Newcastle, making up many lengths in the run home through soft ground. Will take a lot from that run and is going to enjoy the extra furlong in a weaker maiden. Clear top pick. ALMALIKAT SARAH (7) was in the market last start over 1420m at Grafton and didn't do a bad job to finish around two lengths off the winner after settling worse than midfield. Kept fresh since that outing and is a likely improver with the senior rider going on. SEKI (5) returned in good order at Casino recently and is a top three chance despite a wide alley. SMART LILY (10) mixes her form but seems to save her best for this circuit. HEART OF PLATINUM (12) has been struggling but can improve on a six-day back-up with blinkers on for the first time.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Lune D'Excellence.
HORSHAM: RACE 8 @ 4:30 PM
Lots of these making up the numbers. WEATHER DELAY (6) wasn't far away over the mile last time in richer grade. This looks ideal out further in journey and expected to go close. HOODYS HORSE (1) was well beaten last time in town at last couple. Comes well back in class now and gets chance to find form. SQUANDER (8) was safely held when eighth last time out over 1700m at Warrnambool, beaten 5.5 lengths, after a win at Ararat at the previous outing. Better placed here and should be thereabouts. DR DEE DEE (2) is another who struggled in tougher last time. Well beaten in open class in the rich Mount Gambier Cup but will find this more to his liking. PERISSEUO (16) ran on well in this class last time and is among the chances.
SELECTIONS: Follow up on Weather Delay.
