Today’s Horse Racing Tips – 29th January 2020
Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on January 29.
Six TAB meetings are held across Australia on this Wednesday at Kembla Grange, Geelong, Gold Coast, Ascot, Gawler & Launceston.
Kembla Grange: Race 4 @ 3:30pm
Mini Boom will be stamped urgent from the wide gate and can cross and lead. MINI BOOM (7) returned from a 28-week spell with a pleasing 4th over 1100m at Canterbury last start, showing pace and giving plenty under pressure in the straight. Strips a lot fitter today - will be extremely hard to run down if she crosses with minimal fuss. BADIA (8) was an eye-catcher last time over this distance at Warwick Farm, coming from a minute back on the bend to just miss a place. Very fit now - one to watch for late in proceedings. VALDOSTANA (4) resumed from an 11-month spell in that same 1200m race at Farm and missed a win by the barest margin. Awkwardly drawn but with natural improvement is a winning hope. Has come up pretty short in early markets and isn't value. JOLIETTE (5) went okay first up at Canterbury - can improve over a slightly longer trip today with added fitness. SELECTIONS: #7 Mini Boom to lead and give a tremendous sight at each-way odds.

Gawler: Race 6 @ 2:45pm
Not clear-cut who leads. CITY BEATS (2) is in good hands and go on the solid effort two runs back. Gets a 4kg claim and is clearly the one to beat in a weak contest. SUCCEEDANDCONQUER (8) is an ex Queenslander who had some backing at his first run for the Young yard. Rates well at best and the claim gets him in light. DESERT DUEL (6) wasn’t beaten far at the Bridge a month ago in easier and isn’t the worst. SELECTIONS: #2 City Beats is short, but may be the best on a very average program.
Gold Coast: Race 6 @ 5.30pm (AEDT)
LADY EIGHTY EIGHT (10) has hit the line well in her two runs this time in and showed plenty of improvement when placed at Ballina last outing. Looking for this distance now and has won third up before so looks set to peak. AMAZINGLY (3) made late ground after not a lot went right last start. Placed at his other two starts this time in so worth another chance. POWERFUL LASS (7) could be set for a first up kill after winning two trials. TYRES ARE CRUCIAL (5) placed last start and gets a cushy run. In the mix. SELECTIONS: #10 Lady Eighty Eight can peak third up. She has each way appeal.
Geelong: Race 6 @ 6:30pm
Predicated can lead from Renegade and Mula. RENEGADE (5) rates well and is back in grade. Peaks now and looks a genuine hope for a sharp yard on a 7-day return. PREDICATED (3) seeks the hat-trick off a big BM58 win this track and trip. Keeps improving and no surprise if the speedy galloper won again. ATAME (9) resumes off a Group 3 over a trip. In good hands and the market will tell if he’s ready to go. SELECTIONS: A tricky program way below the usual Wednesday standard. #5 Renegade is well placed on a quick return and looks the bet.
Launceston: Race 6 @ 9:00pm
Dothraki Princess to establish a strong tempo. ETHICAL DILEMMA (7) tackled open company over this course and distance last start and wasn't disgraced in finishing 2.7 lengths off the winner. All his wins have come at seven furlongs. The one to beat with Newitt replacing the apprentice. WILLBY RULES (3) returned to form last time out, making good late inroads to get up for 4th over the mile. The winner of 5/12 at this distance and with a cosy run from gate one poses a genuine threat. DOTHRAKI PRINCESS (6) was on the pace all the way when a close 2nd over 1650m at the Devonport synthetic recently. Boasts a 50% win record at seven furlongs - will give a mighty sight out in front. GEE GEES QUEENIE (4) is very honest and loves racing here. SELECTIONS: #7 Ethical Dilemma each-way at big odds.
