Newcastle Racecourse Proudly Hosts the Hunter Melanoma Foundation Race Day

A Day at the Races with a Powerful Purpose.

Newcastle, NSW – Newcastle Racecourse is proud to once again host the highly anticipated Hunter Melanoma Foundation (HMF) Race Day on Saturday, 24 May 2025, in partnership with Farrelly Construction Services. This meaningful event combines the excitement of a race day with an important mission — raising awareness and funds in the fight against melanoma, the most common cancer affecting young Australians.

Now in its 30th year, the HMF Race Day has become a much-loved tradition on the Newcastle racing and community calendar. Last year's event raised more than $30,000, supporting critical melanoma research, education programs, and support services for local patients.

This year's Hunter Melanoma Foundation Trackside Marquee has officially sold out, demonstrating the community's strong commitment to the cause. However, plenty of other outstanding hospitality options remain available, including:

  • The Meadows Marquee – a vibrant, relaxed trackside experience
  • Chevals Restaurant – refined race day dining at its best
  • Mark Murphy Lounge – elevated race views and atmosphere
  • The Ascot Lawn – casual, social and sun-soaked
Duane Dowell, CEO of Newcastle Jockey Club, said: "We're honoured to be the home of this inspiring event and to support the incredible work of the Hunter Melanoma Foundation. The Race Day is a true celebration of community spirit, and we're proud to help raise awareness and funds for such an important local cause."

Claudia Tolhurst, Executive Officer of HMF, added: "The support of Newcastle Racecourse makes this event possible year after year. This is more than a race day — it's an opportunity to save lives through funding research and education, and we're grateful for every ticket sold and every voice raised in support."

Both Duane Dowell and Claudia Tolhurst will be available for interviews on the day, and media are warmly encouraged to attend and cover this impactful event.
