Seoul Race 1: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 45 Million

Picture: Korea Racing Authority

Juvenile maidens in the opener. (1) GRACE DAY was a solid 3rd on debut over this distance on November 9th when settling handy and running on well. Like the others here racing for the second time, he should have come on for that run and from the inside gate he can be on pace and go all the way. (5) TIGER BULPAE was also 3rd on debut, in her case over 1000M on November 1st. It wasn't a quick race, but she showed enough to suggest that she has ability and can follow up here. (10) NIGHT GANGJA was 5th behind Tiger Bulpae in that race and get closer. (11) PARAIBA and (3) VINCENT ALEX can improve.

(10) GOLDEN SAVE has made progress across three starts so far, culminating in 3rd place over 1300M on November 8th when handy throughout. Despite the wide draw, he can be on pace here and can win. There are three first-timers, and helpfully for us, they all came through the same trial on October 23rd. The best of them was (7) RAON THE TONY, who showed prominently and crossed the line a close 3rd in a fair time – and well clear of the other two debut-makers here. Bringing that form to the races will be enough to go close in this limited company. (5) WONDERFUL DARSHAAN was an improved 4th at start two over this distance on November 1st and while the time wasn't quick, that's enough to be in contention here. (2) BEST CHEONHA and the debuting (9) THE SUN AMIR others who may be in the place market.

(2) GLORY JOY has been getting closer across seven starts so far, culminating in 2nd place at 1400M on November 16th when close to the speed throughout. He steps up to two turns for the first time and having drawn well to lead, can go all the way. (3) SUBMISSION is the big danger. He came from a wide gate and well back to run 3rd over 1400M on November 1st and should be similarly suited by the step up in trip. (6) BLACK SMILE and (1) BLUE DRAGON came home 2nd and 3rd respectively when they raced each other at this class and distance on November 11th and both can be in the frame here. (7) O P S TAP another who can challenge for the minors.

Small field of juveniles for the south coast opener and (5) HEY BRO will be a warm favourite. After a positive trial, he was a good 2nd on debut over 1000M on October 31st, settling handy and finishing off well. He should have come on for that run, and the additional furlong can suit. (7) BORYEONG ULTRA MAN debuted in the same race and was also close to the speed, ultimately finishing 3rd, just half a length behind Hey Bro. He too can have come on and is the main danger. (4) SEOGWI FOREST and (8) DOCTOR CHAMP did nothing in their respective debuts but have both trialed well (the latter since that first start) and can improve. There are three first time starters and of them, (3) UNJU NURI was the best in trials.

Selections (5) Hey Bro (7) Boryeong Ultra Man (4) Seogwi Forest (8) Doctor Champ

(7) GHOST CHRYSOL is yet to win in nine attempts but has four 2nd places including on his latest start at this class over 18000M on November 8th when settling midfield and running on. Expect similar tactics here and he can come out on top. (8) SEUNGNI BAROWS got his sole win to date at this distance and enters off a 3rd place at class and distance on November 15th when coming from off the pace. He has the fastest time among any of these for the 1700M and is a big danger. (11) SAVANA CHARLIE beat Seungni Barows when 2nd in that November 15th race, matching his best ever finish at what was start twenty-right. He may not be a winning chance, but his recent form has been solid, and he can place again. (3) BULGEUNTAEYANG and (10) SHARKTEN others who can trouble the judges.

Selections (7) Ghost Chrysol (8) Seungni Barows (11) Savana Charlie (3) Bulgeuntaeyang

(6) WHITE FLARE has two 3rd place finishes and a 5th from three outings so far, most recently at this distance on November 2nd when on pace throughout for the first time. He will surely be ridden to be on pace again and he won't need to improve much to see off this modest set of opponents. (2) WE STRONG was an improved 4th at start number four on November 16th and from a good draw can maintain his positive momentum. (4) SOMANGUIGIL finished outside of the top four for the first time on November 21st over a mile and may be better for coming back in trip here. (10) DELEKOOMDA and (9) DIA X are the other placing chances.

Fillies (and one mare) only here. After running 3rd on debut, (8) CLUTCH LOVE was a winner at start number two over 1200M in a filly maiden on October 26th when settling midfield and finishing strongly. She is up in class here and in trip, but neither should be an issue, and she will be favoured to win again. (9) TRIPLE JENNY is also up in class following a maiden win, in her case over 1300M on November 2nd. She has placed twice at this trip already and can measure up. (1) JUNMA FORCE has plenty of experience at this level and comes in with recent form reading consistently well. She was 3rd in a similar class and distance race to this on November 23rd and can at least match that today. (3) DURAY SHOW and (10) WONDERFUL THATCH are the others who can be backed on a place line.

Fillies (and one mare) only here. (3) BLUE HUNTER ran 4th on debut at 1000M in October and then secured her maiden win with a front-running effort in a filly maiden at 1200M on November 9th. She is up in class and slightly in trip, but is down in weight, well drawn, and looks to have plenty of scope for more progress. (6) WHITE STAR was a winner on debut over 1000M on October 31st, showing handy throughout. The time wasn't quick, but she did what was required of her and while up in class and distance, there is no reason she can't kick on. (7) HANNAM QUEEN has placed in each of her latest three, all at this class, and with an apprentice jockey claiming 4kg, she can be there or thereabouts again. (4) GALLOP QUEEN and (10) WORLD BLUE PIN CAT others in the hunt.

(9) TAEYANGUI JEONSA is rapidly up in class having won two of his first three starts with the only defeat having come in the Listed Munhwa Ilbo Trophy. He made all to score over 1300M last time out and under a light weight, he can measure up. (11) MANI NODAGI took a few tries to figure things out, but he comes in here having finished in the top two in each of his last five starts, most recently winning over 1200M on November 8th when coming from off the pace from the same wide gate he draws today. He comes up in class today and while he also even comes up in weight, there looks to be more to come from him. (10) SEOUL BINGO was a winner at this distance in a fast time two starts back before finishing 4th on his first try at this class on October 19th and he can be in this too. (8) BEOLGYO CHADOL and (6) HERO CHOICE other chances.

Competitive race. (8) YURIM SKY returned from almost three months out to beat three of these on his way to 3rd place at 1800M on November 9th, racing on pace. He should strip fitter for that run and has as good a chance as any here. (5) DOCTOR CURLIN has been getting closer to a second win in recent efforts and was a solid 2nd over 1400M on November 14th at this class. He tackles 1800M for the first time under a light weight and can be dangerous. (12) CAPTAIN DRAGON got his maiden win over a mile on October 24th, leading all the way around. He is up in class and to this trip for the first time, and he can measure up. (7) SWORD WING and (10) FLYING THE LUCKY are among plenty of others with least placing claims.

(9) CLAIR BIG BANG debuted in January and was then put away until mid-June. Since coming back, she has won four from five, most recently at this class and distance on November 2nd when close to the pace throughout. She is up 3kg in weight, but she has won under the same amount before, and she is the one to beat. (3) WORLD JOY was 3rd in that November 2nd race, continuing a run of good form. He gets a weight swing here and can be in contention. (5) GLORY CITY and (11) BLACK SIDAE came home 2nd and 3rd respectively when they raced each other at this class and distance on November 9th and both can be aiming to match or better those results today. (2) MIGHTY NIC looks the best of the rest.

It's been a while between drinks for (9) BEOLMA BROWN but after a bit of a cold patch he has come back into form in his latest two with a 3rd and a 2nd over 1200M and 1400M. He carries his fair share of weight here, but he has won over a mile before and today can be his day. (7) SANGIM STAR was a winner at this distance two starts back – finally as it was her thirty-first attempt – before running 4th on her first try at this class on November 23rd settling right back and finishing well. Leaving herself too much to do has been a feature of a lot of her races but under a light weight, if she is within striking distance here, she can be in the finish. The rest need an uptick on recent form. (1) GRAND CHASER races for the first time since June but did win a trial in October, although the distance is a question mark. (5) TRIPLE DREAM and (6) WORLD POINT other place chances.

The delightfully named (9) GOOD MORNING COME was a winner over 1000M at start three at the beginning of October and then ran 4th when drawn in the widest gate for his first try at this distance over 1200M on November 18th, running on from midfield. The slight step up in trip can suit and there can be more to come. He'll need to overturn form on (10) SAINT WINNER, who was 3rd in that November 8th race having led for much of the way. He is yet to win but that was his second 3rd place, and he can be in the mix again under a similar weight. (11) HAKSAN PRINCE is another maiden, in his case after fifteen attempts. He can mix his form but going on his 2nd place at this class over 1400M on November 15th, he should be close here and the wide draw isn't an issue. (1) CHRYSOL NIKE and (7) STUNNING WORLD others in the frame.

(6) GEUDAEMANUI BLUE is yet to win in ten but has three runner-up finishes and was 3rd on his latest on November 9th when coming from off the pace over 1400M. He has placed over a mile already and today can be his day. (5) STRAWBERRY QUEEN is rapidly up in class, having won her latest two at 1200M and 1300M with front running efforts. She is up in trip too, but she can be competitive. (11) STRIKE ZONE has a 3rd and a 4th from his latest two, both at this class over 1800M. He likes to be on pace, so the widest gate is a challenge, but he carries a light weight and with a touch of luck to help him find a forward position early, he is in the mix. (3) RIPPLES MARINE and (10) LEMON TREE others to consider on a place line.

(10) ROSHE was a winner on debut over 1200M on October 3rd, showing on pace throughout and scoring comfortably. He gets to stay in this class without much of a weight rise and he can maintain his 100% record here. (1) WONDERFUL SOCKS won his first two starts at 1000M and 1300M to be rapidly promoted to this class (as a local bred he began at class 6 whereas Roshe had to begin at this level). He finished down the field in the Listed NACF Chairman's Trophy in October but put in a fair effort and returning to shallower waters today can be close. (7) WONDERFUL A ONE made all for his maiden win at this class and distance on November 1st. That was his second start back from a six-month layoff so he can strip even fitter here and while he is up 3kg in the weight, he is not to be dismissed. (11) MY THERN and (3) BAKCHARA others in the frame.

We'll take a chance on (4) COSMO RUN here. He comes in fresh following twelve weeks out but his form going into that layoff was good, he has won over this trip and under a very light weight and from a good gate he may be available at an each-way price. (2) GLOBAL POWER comes back in trip following recent outings over two turns including a 2nd over 1800M two starts back. An apprentice takes 4kg off his back which should put him right in this. (6) NAEGILUI WINNER needs a line drawn through his latest at 1400M, but he comes back to a trip at which he has two wins and seven placings from fifteen attempts and with a weight drop and Moon Se-young getting on, he will have plenty of backers. (11) EXCELLENT TAN and (10) GEUMSE other place chances.

(3) ZETTA MASTER has a win and three 2nd place finishes from his latest four, all at this distance and every time coming from well off the pace. That sees his rating tick up to class 2 here but that also brings a full 6kg weight drop and he can be competitive again. (10) SUNNY ROAD was an also-ran in Listed company in September but beat a couple of these on his way to 4th place at this class and distance on November 1st. He carries the same light weight and from the outside gate again he can be a threat. (9) UPTOWN WHIZ is better than his latest couple suggest and may benefit from coming back up in trip here. (8) ACE GUNJU and (5) HUSH DAEBO also can be in the mix.
