Seoul Race 1: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 45 Million

Picture: Korea Racing Authority

Juvenile maiden fillies with nine of the twelve racing for the first time. We'll side with experience though and (11) HOLLY TIARA, who after a trial ran a close 2nd on debut over this distance on November 8th, racing handy throughout. She drew wide that day too and will be favoured to go one better here. (6) STEEL MORE came from a long way back to run a close 2nd over 1000M on her debut on November 1st. She should have come on for that, and the additional furlong can suit. (3) YUKWAEHAN SEUNGJA has finished 4th in both starts so far, most recently behind Holy Tiara. She too has been doing her best work late and can be finishing strongly again. Among the debut makers, (1) MISS CHRISTIE was the best in trials and gets a 4kg claim as well as the inside gate. (12) JEJU PRINCESS also ran on well from an unpromising position and 1200M can suit first up.

Selections (11) Holly Tiara (6) Steel More (3) Yukwaehan Seungja (1) Miss Christie

Juvenile maidens although all of them have racing experience. (10) HAKSAN SWORD has a 2nd and a 3rd from two starts so far at 1000M and at this distance, settling midfield and running on.  The wide draw shouldn't be a problem, and he can win. The other standout is (4) COMEBACK HOLYMOELY. After a 4th place on debut, he was 3rd at this distance on November 11th having raced handy. He is in a good gate and should be close. (3) BEST THE ON was 2nd at start two over 1200M and while the time wasn't quick, he ran on well and the additional half furlong can suit. (6) GOLDEN DIVA and (8) FIGHTER can improve on their respective debuts.

(8) COMPLETE TOUCH ran three times across the turn of the year, registering a 4th and a 3rd after an indifferent debut. She hasn't appeared since March, but she looked well in an on-pace 2nd in a trial in November and has every chance first-up. If match fitness is a concern, then (4) YEONGWONHAN STAR is an option. She was an improved 5th at start number three on November 9th, coming from a wide gate to race handy. She draws much better here and can be closer. (11) NINE SPEAR needs a lone drawn through her latest but prior to that registered a 2nd place and she can be given another chance here. (9) EODIGADO and (3) GAPJAENGI others who can be in the placing hunt.

Selections (8) Complete Touch (4) Yeongwonhan Star (11) Nine Spear (9) Eodigado

(6) AMOS CHEONHA won an October trial and then ran out a comfortable winner over 1200M on debut on November 9th, settling midfield and running on. He is up in class but down in weight and looks to have plenty more potential for progress. He will be a warm favourite here. (9) EODIDEUNJI got his maiden win at start number two in September before finishing midfield on his first try at this level on October. He comes in fresh after eight weeks out and can be closer today. (8) FLUTTER comes up in class following his maiden win on October 26th when making all over 1200M. Like the favourite, he is down in weight and can measure up. (1) SEOBU SKY and (7) TEN BAGGER others in the placing frame.

(1) WONDERFUL N.B. scored his maiden win in August and has worked his way into contention in three goes at this class, most recently when 3rd over this distance on November 15th, showing handy throughout. He draws the same gate and while slightly up in weight, he can win. (3) JILPUNGA won at this distance at class 6 level two starts back before running a close 2nd at 1300M on November 1st. He too is up in weight but should be in the mix. (10) NUNI OLKKAYO came from midfield to win over 1200M on November 15th which brings him up in class. It wasn't a quick race, but he won assuredly and can measure up at an each-way price. (2) EAN FIRST and (5) RAON NIZHINSKII others who can come into consideration.

Selections (1) Wonderful N.B (3) Jilpunga (10) Nuni Olkkayo (2) Ean First

(5) HANGANG FANTASTIC has been working back towards another win, most recently finishing 3rd at this class over 1300M on November 16th when handy throughout. He continues under a light weight he can be in the finish. (1) SCALE KING was a winner at this class and distance at odds in excess of 60/1 on November 8th, getting shuffled back early before running on. He is up 2.5kg in weight but warrants more respect today. (6) ARCH DAY will complete most trios. A two-time winner over this trip, he came from off the pace to run 3rd at 120M on October 4th and can be doing his best work late again here. (3) ULTRA MANGCHI and (10) COMPLETE PARTY other placing chances.

(11) RYAN HEART beat a couple of today's rivals on his way to 3rd place at this class and distance on October 4th having led for much of the way around. He is a winner at 1400M already and while he has to contend with the widest gate here, he is under a light weight and he can win. (5) YEONHUI HERO was 2nd at this class around 1800M on November 8th, showing on pace throughout. He drops back in trip to tackle 1400M for the first time and from a nice draw can be on the speed again and in this a long way. Veteran (7) THE SUN FIGHTER comes up in class here after a couple of near-misses, and the resulting 5.5kg weight drop should put him firmly in things. (4) LAFAYETTE and second-up (10) J MOTION are others in the frame.

Selections (11) Ryan Heart (5) Yeonhui Hero (7) The Sun Fighter (4) Lafayette

(2) BS STORM took a couple of goes to figure things out, but he has won three of his last four, most recently scoring at this class over 1700M on November 2nd when settling midfield and running on. An apprentice keeps him under a very light weight and that should be enough to see him home on top again. (6) LEGENDSUN won at this class and distance at the end of September and then beat a couple of today's rivals on his way to 3rd place on November 1st. In the absence of an apprentice claim this time (that apprentice is on BS Storm), he is up 4.5kg in weight, but he shapes as the main danger. (5) AQUA LINE was champion juvenile a year ago and while he has struggled for both fitness and form this term, he looked well when winning a November trial and gets another chance. (3) THEME TANSAENG and (1) BAZOOKA BOY other place chances.

(11) WONPYEONG SKET is one of the best juveniles of the year although after running 2nd in three consecutive Listed races – leading almost the entire way around in each before being run down late by three very good ones – she didn't go to the Breeders' Cup Rookie last month. She goes here and while she has to deal with the wide gate, she should have enough to get to the lead and none of today's rivals should be able to catch her. (8) ROOFTOP was a winner on debut in September before finishing back in the pack behind Wonpyeong Sket in Listed company in November. He may not overturn that form, but he should beat plenty. (1) GEOSEN BIGMAN enters with consistent recent form and should be close again. (6) YONGBI HERO and (4) RAON THE KEISHA are the other place chances.

Selections (11) Wonpyeong Sket (8) Rooftop (1) Geosen Bigman (6) Yongbi Hero

(4) MY EMPIRE won back-to-back outings at class 4 level over 1200M on September and October before running 3rd in Listed Juvenile company on November 16th, finishing two-lengths behind Wonpyeong Sket (who we were dure to see in race 9). If that form holds up, he can be winning this. The danger is (7) DRAGON KINGDOM. A three-time winner over this distance, he was most recently an on-pace 3rd at a mile on November 9th. He has seven top three finishes from ten starts and won't be far away. (11) HERO SOCKS was 2nd to Dragon Kingdom two outings back before running 4th, again at this class and distance, on November 29th and he has place claims again. (6) NANO MASIN and (10) CAROLCHAT are others to consider on a place line.

(4) J S ROAD beat several of today's rivals on his way to 2nd place in a quick race at this class over 1200M on November 8th. He has placed four times at this distance and from a good gate, he can go one better today. (6) BLACK MOTION returned from six months out to win over this distance on November 8th. He comes up in class but is down 3kg in weight and if anything, should strip fitter for that run. (8) M G BEST races for the first time since winning in early August and while he is up in class for his return, he looked well when winning a November trial and can be in the mix. Last year's Oaks winner (7) ECLIPSE BERRY struggled on her return from more than a year's absence behind J S ROAD in that November 8th race but earns another chance here. (11) EUNPA SARANG, last year's Derby winner, is another in the hunt and faces softer competition than in recent outings.

Selections (4) J S Road (6) Black Motion (8) M G Best (7) Eclipse Berry
