You will have to look elegant to cheer on Hong Kong's superstars Ka Yin Rising as he goes for his 17th consecutive win and Romantic Warrior as he justifies the decision to stay at home this prep.Ka Ying Rising is in the Centenary Spring G1 over 1200m which only has 6 opponents so you have to love his chances. We remember our father saying to us that "top horses win top races" and there is nothing above Ka Ying Rising in the sprinting department. He's won all sorts of accolades in the recent ratings and there doesn't seem to be anything to stop him – weather is OK, the field has worthy opposition but at a lower level. We think the best of them could be either of the Size runners – Helios Express and Raging Blizard - but really it's not a betting race – it is a race in which to enjoy a brilliant horse doing his thing.
The Stewards' Cup sees a bit more of a competitive race as Romantic Warrior, the horse with the highest earnings, come up against a local champ who was a triple crown winner, Voyage Bubble. They are both "seniors" now with Warrior an 8yo and Voyage a 7yo. Again not a race for boosting the retirement fund one would think although of course in racing anything can happen, but the chances are slim. As there are nine runners there is a chance for a third place payout and we would rate that almost a tie between Red Lion and My Wish.
