Further to our preview of Keenneland, here goes for Aquaduct and Santa Anita.
Aqueduct has a great program but we'll just look at the top two races – the Carter ane the Wood Memorial, both Gr 2.The Carter is over 1400m and has 6 starters with the excellent Book'em Danno on evens here for Ryan-Lopez. Possible rival or quinella if you really want to play this race is Rated by Merit on 8/5 for Brown-Franco.
The Wood is over 1800m for 3yos and gives 50 points towards te Kentucky Derby to the winner (and point through to 5th). It has attracted 13 runners so here we go with Iron Horse on 5/2 for Brown – Franco. He's by Nyquist. We rather like Napoleon Solo who was scratched from the Arkansas Derby in favour of this. He's by Liam's Map and is on 7/2. Talk to me Jimmy is on 6/1 – by Modernist and with Rodriquez-Silvera.
On the other side of the country the Santa Anita Derby is Gr 1 over 1800m with a field of seven. Any Baffert runner in this has to be taken seriously and Potente, a colt by Into Mischief, is on 2/1 with J J Hernandez riding. Also Cherokee Nation on 5/2 with Geroux on board this son of Not This Time. A non-Baffert runner is Intrepido, a Maximus Mischief product who is on 9/2 for Mulles-Berrios.
There's also the Santa Anita Oaks G1 for the 3yo fillies over 1700m and there are 7 starters. Meaning is a Gun Runner filly with McCarthy- JJ Hernandez on 3/5. Forced Entry is on 4/1 – she's on 4/1 for Baffert-Smith and is by Charlatan. French Blue is on
5/1 and is another Gun Runer with Baffert-Geroux.
