Fashion Friday at Meydan
Frock up gals – there's a fashion bonanza and an 8 race all Group level card at Meydan this Friday.
Racing starts with the Firebreak Stakes, G3 over 1600m with 7 runners. Bhupat Seemar is in for a very busy night as he has numerous runners through the card and in this he saddles the favourite Commissioner King with Tadgh O'Shea the jockey and Mendelssohn Bay with Richard Mullen up. Wathnan's Hypnus will be in the care of James Doyle and also has a good chance.
The Al Fahidi Fort G2 is over 1400m with 15 going to post. Godolphin's Mysterious Night (Appleby-Buick) is on 11/4 (prices are in the UK as no betting in the UAE) with last year's winner Marbaan in 4/1 Costa-de Sousa and we like Audience on 8/1 for O'Meara-Tudhope.
The Al Shindagha Sprint is G3 over 1200m and El Nasseeb is going for a fourth win in row with 7/4 the quote – Al Mheiri-de Sousa. There are 6 runners and the two from Seemar are Drew's Gold on 9/4 with Buick riding – he's a c&d winner – and Mufasa with O'Shea on board. 6 runners.
The Blue Point Sprint G2 on turf over 1000m has 11 runners headed by last year's winner West Acre for Scott-Shepherd on 2/1. The Crisfords have Cover Up, a c&d winner, with Buick riding on 5/2 and English raider Spartan Arrow is on 11/2 for Archie Watson and Hollie Doyle.
The Al Maktoum Challenge G1(first round) is over 1900m dirt and has 9 runners. Heart of Honour is a top horse and comes into this on 2/1 for J & S Osborne with Seemar's Walk of Stars who won this last year on 9/4 – O'Shea rides and stablemate Artorius is on 7/2 with Buick on board. And we have to put in Tumbarumba – he hasn't really helped us achieve fiscal independence so far but one always lives in hope, 22/1 here and James Doyle has the ride.
The Jebel Hatta G1 is over 1800m turf with 6 runners headed by the impressive Opera Ballo for Appleby-Buick and has a c&d under his girth. Stablemate Nations Pride has Barzalona riding and they are on 4/1 and Holloway Boy should be kept safe on 11/1.
The UAE 2000 Guineas is G3 over 1600m dirt and has 16 runners. Godolphin's Devon Island is on 11/4 for Appleby-Buick with Seemar's Six Speed on 9/4, the Argentinian bred Legalized on 4/1 for Al Mheiri and J Doyle and we will add Brotherly Love on 14/1 J&S Osborne for a bit of value. The first five home get Kentucky Derby points.
The Al Khail Trophy G3 for the stayers is over 2800m turf and has 8 runners headed by the Crisfords' Meydaan with J Doyle in the irons and they are on 6/5. David O'Meara's Epic Poet is on 11/4 with Tudhope on board and the other Crisford runner is West Wind Blows on 7/1 and Buick in the irons.
