Another repeat winner in February Stakes
We've been writing a bit about horses who win a particular race for the second time.
And there was another example in Japan on Sunday when Costa Nova won the G1 February Stakes for the second year running. He hadn't won any of the three starts he had after last year's win but somehow something clicked in and this time it was Lemaire who steered him into the winner's circle. Last year it was Rachel King on board but she didn't have any luck this year although she did well on the day with two wins, a third and two fifths.
The always-gallant Wilson Tesoro almost got there with just half a length separating him from the winner and favourite W Heart Bond a similar gap back in third. Fourth placed Brian Sense had formed a quartet with the first three as they were all neck and neck to an exciting finish. Mira Iwata finished just in front of his father in fourth and fifth places.
