43rd Sandy Lane Barbados Gold Cup

There was a large crowd in attendance at the Garrrison Savannah track on this important date.

It's the biggest race in the region and this year saw Public Sector win with jockey Jalon Samuel on board gaining his seventh win in the race.  Samuel is from Barbados but is based in Canada at Woodbine.

Barbados has produced two outstanding trainers – Sir Michael Stoute in England who is now retired, and Saffie Joseph Jr who trains in the US.  He sent a runner to this race from the US -Abruman – who finished fifth.
