Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for September 25.
Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Sandown, Bathurst, Port Macquarie, Sunshine Coast, Naracoorte, Northam, Alice Springs and Devonport.
SANDOWN-HILLSIDE: RACE 7 @ 4:25 PM
Outstanding clash between a trio of last start winners and a field of six Cox Plate hopefuls looking to firm up their claims there. I'M THUNDERSTRUCK (2) was second to Zaaki in the All Star Mile and second to Mr Brightside in the Doncaster but he had looked every bit a match for those winners and went to a new level winning the Makybe Diva last time. He can go by ZAAKI (1) this time who returned as well as ever winning the Tramway and is well placed to produce the same sort of form that saw him run out a clear cut winner of this 12 months ago. MR BRIGHTSIDE (4) faces a tougher test now but he could hardly have been more impressive at the Valley and is a better horse now than when he won the Doncaster. ALLIGATOR BLOOD (3) might be on trial over the extra 200m but he gave a mighty kick at Flemington and will look to do the same down the hill here. SELECTIONS: Backing I'm Thunderstruck to mow down Zaaki.

BATHURST: RACE 1 @ 1:15 PM
WANDJINA SPIRIT (12) has been knocking on the door of a maiden victory with two consecutive placings to start the career and strikes a very winnable contest here. Has placed around this circuit and Costin was in the irons for that last-start second and sticks. Should prove very hard to toss. DEE PEE PEE (6) returned in good order with a handy second at Dubbo and will strip fitter for that hit-out. Right in the mix. ZOISITE (13) just ran into one better last time out and gets 2kg weight relief with the claim. Top-three conveyance. The well-related DOWN TO EARTH (1) best of the rest. SELECTIONS: Wandjina Spirit to win.
SUNSHINE COAST: RACE 3 @ 2:10 PM
INVINOVICH (5) is a locally trained maiden galloper who is likely to be one of the favourites after a brace of strong second placings in a brief campaign last time in work. He looks to be in good order after placing in a recent trial and is the one they all have to beat. BOLD HUSSAR (2) turned in a solid run on debut last start finishing third as a favourite at Sunshine Coast Poly over 1100m. The blinkers go on today and he is a likely improver so he shouldn't be a maiden for long. SIR CARTER (11) is on debut and has placed at a recent Doomben trial. A big run can be expected. Watch closely. ASHIKO BAY (1) trained off late when last in work and he should have matured over his spell. He has a handy draw and could be one to spice up your first fours. SELECTIONS: Invinovich win bet.
PORT MACQUARIE: RACE 3 @ 2:35 PM
GOLDEN BREEZE (7) has filled a minor placing at both runs to date, the latest when beaten 1.75 lengths into third over 1007m at Taree. Will be running on and shapes as one of the hardest to beat. DE LOVELY LAD (6) is a four-start maiden who finished second, beaten 1.75 lengths, when resuming from a spell over 1000m at Tuncurry. Should get a nice run and shapes as the main danger. HEIR APPARENT (8) gets the blinkers on for the first time and anticipating good improvement. SELECTIONS: Golden Breeze to win.
ALICE SPRINGS: RACE 1 @ 2:23 PM
CAPTAIN BRIDGES (1) won easily at his track debut last start and will be even sharper second up. He should be winning again. BRAT (2) can be a touch in or out but showed his true worth when leading all the way to win comfortably last time out. He can again make his own rules early and deserves plenty of respect. BEAN SHOPPIN' (3) was a beaten favourite but made up plenty of ground late when finishing third fresh up. She will strip fitter this time and is worth following. Can win. HARBOUR EXPRESS (7) is a durable veteran who always tries his best and has a great course record. Include in all multiples. SELECTIONS: Captain Bridges win bet.
NARACOORTE: RACE 5 @ 3:00 PM
PERFECT PANDA (3) impressed when successful as favourite on debut at Mt Gambier over 1216m. Has plenty of upside and should go on with it. OUR ELLIE ROSE (4) doesn't win out of turn but ran a strong race last time over 1416m at Mt Gambier when third and is a leading chance in this field. READY FOR ACTION (5) raced below his best last time when ninth over 1216m at Mt Gambier. He is usually thereabouts at this level. SELECTIONS: Perfect Panda win bet.
NORTHAM: RACE 2 @ 2:09 PM
HOOAH HAVANA (1) has threatened both starts and has a decent future. Finally draws a low barrier and fitter he should be going one better. MALKAR PINDARI (4) has the same form-line and draws the rail. Gives every indication the longer sprint will suit. YARRALEA (5) did enough at Belmont on debut to say he's a chance. Draws the outside in the small field but the top hoop sticks and will manage. CITINO (3) debuts and the latest trial was good. Keeps the in-form CJP and is worth consideration. SELECTIONS: Backing Hooah Havana to win.
