The Listed Racing For Good Civic Stakes (1400m) takes centre stage at Royal Randwick on Saturday, in what looks another competitive ten-race card.

We look to strike early in the TAB Highway Class 3 Handicap (1200m), with the exciting Danny Williams-trained Exit Fee.

The lightly raced Ten Sovereigns three-year-old gelding was on a Country Championships path last time in, but failed to lift his ratings in time to qualify with just the two wins to his record.

Exit Fee looks to have come back a more polished product this preparation, as was evident with his two very slick barrier trials over the 800m at Goulburn in fast time.

Regular rider Zac Lloyd is reunited with the gelding, and from the good barrier expect to see Exit Fee stalk the good speed and assert his class late.

Danny Williams will be hopeful of a winning start to the campaign so he can lift his ratings in an attempt to qualify for The Kosciuszko in October.

Hovering around $4.60 he gets conditions to suit, and will prove hard to stop.

Our next best comes up in the Midway Benchmark 72 Handicap (1600m), with the Kerry Parker-trained Callistemon.

The Territories four-year-old mare looks set to peak tomorrow at her fourth run back, and will relish getting out to the mile.

With a solid tempo anticipated, expect to see Jason Collett get going early in an attempt to switch her on and prove hard to hold out.

Callistemon has firmed since markets went up on Wednesday, and the $4.60 looks acceptable.
