Race Preview
Gawler – Saturday, 13th of December 2025
Best bets for nine-race card at Gawler on Saturday.
We'll have to wait until the last for this week's best, but Cielao from the Michael Hickmott stable looks primed to go back-to-back.
The four-year-old daughter of Toronado bounced back in style last start, dictating from the front and putting away Extinguish, who franked the form with a quick follow-up win last weekend. She ran slick time in doing so, rocketing to a new career peak on the Racing and Sports scale, and there's every indication she's got more improvement to come.
From barrier four, she maps to get a soft lead - or at worst, an easy time on speed - with little pressure engaged outside the evergreen 12YO France's Boy (at start 160). That tactical edge should allow her to control proceedings again.
Another I'm keen to back comes a race earlier with the Matthew Seyers-trained Dunreal.
The four-year-old son of Dundeel justified his short quote second-up at this venue, making light work of his rivals in a dominant display. That experience and success at Gawler is a key tick, and with plenty of improvement still to come, he looks set to go on with it.
The rise in trip should only suit, and with an anticipated genuine tempo, Dunreal shapes to relish the conditions and be too strong late.
