The British-bred Chief Ironside scored a good win here — on his second start in Australia.

He settled in fifth, between runners, tracking a good tempo before getting through to third at the home turn.

He then kept responding to riding, running on resolutely to grab a narrow but good victory.

Cliff's Edge raced outside the leader (Dreamforce), put pressure on that runner from the 600m, got to the front halfway down the straight and then fought gamely for (short head) second.

Best Of Days settled in ninth place, tracked up (wide with cover) from the 600m and then kept running on well (wide out) in the straight to take third.

Pacodali raced in eighth place, between runners, took a split in the straight and ran on nicely for a close-up fourth, finishing just in front of Dreamforce who ran a bold race in the lead before finishing (0.7 lengths) fifth with Sikandarabad sixth and Debt Agent, who made late ground for (1 length) seventh.
