Morphettville Races Review on 3rd May 2025
The New Zealand bred and well credentialed gelding Party Crasher gave his trainer Michael Hickmott a win in the 2009 metre opening race at Morphettville on Saturday.
Guided to victory by Todd Pannell Party Crasher was one off the pace before getting to the front just after the home turn to win comfortably.
Apprentice Felicity Atkinson continued her good run when she rode Voltage Point to a win in the 1050 metre second race.
Being under the care of Chris Beig who continued with his good strike rate of late, Voltage Point came from midfield to meet with success.
Being first up after a spell and coming out of the Andrew Gluyas stable Lovely Lookin' took out the 1050 metre third race.
Continuing the good run of apprentice Taylor Johnstone Lovely Lookin' jumped well and maintained a forward position throughout the event.
Trainer Chris Beig trained his second winner for the day when Annihilate took out the 1600 metre fourth race.
Guided by Liam Riordan Annihilate settled in a midfield position before bursting through the pack in the straight.
Trainer Stephen Theodore continued his good success rate when his charge Fine Future took out the 1800 metre fifth race.
Ridden by Jamie Melham who took the ride after regular Kayla Crowther was injured recently, Fine Future came from a midfield position with a strong outside ride to win.
The five-year-old gelding Sir Kingsford proved himself an iron horse when he won his second cup in a fortnight and his third consecutive win when he took out the listed Port Adelaide Cup which was run over 2500 metres.
Prepared at Gawler by Gary and Nichole Searle and their daughter Brianna Callahan and guided o victory by Teagan Voorham Sir Kingsford led all the way making it his tenth win from twenty-seven starts.
The training partnership of Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr continued their good run at the Adelaide Autumn Carnival when their three-year-old filly On Display took out the listed Adelaide Guineas which was run over 1600 metres.
Guided to victory by Ben Melham, On Display came from a rearward position with a powerful outside run over the concluding stages to meet with success.
Trainer Phillip stokes continued his Group 1 success when the three-year-old filly Femminile took out the Group 1 South Australian Derby which was run over 2500 metres.
Giving jockey Lachlan Neindorf his second success in the Derby Femminile came from well back with a withering run in the straight to win the time- honoured event.
Racing fans were treated to the most exciting finish for the day when Declared scored in a tight finish in the 1200 metre finale vent.
Trained at Goolwa by David Jolly and with Justin Potter in the saddle Declared settled well before going on to meet with success.
