King Of Light could not have been more impressive in winning the Group 2 WA Guineas (1600m) at Ascot on Saturday and as a result the three-year-old gelding has firmed into $2.70 with TabTouch for a tilt at Group 1 glory in the Northerly Stakes on December 6.

The rising Western Australian star opened at $15 for the 1800-metre day four feature of The Pinnacles with the gelding set to be even more suited under the weight-for-age conditions.

Western Empire finished second in the Northerly Stakes in 2021 and his runner-up effort in the Group 1 Railway Stakes (1600m) on Saturday made for a slightly firmer price of $5.50 in futures betting.

Railway winner Watch Me Rock has remained steady at $7 with TabTouch along with other Railway combatant and King Of Light's stablemate Super Smink at $12.

A heartbreaker for some in missing a start in the Railway but winning the Group 2 Carbine Club of WA Stakes (1600m) by 2½-lengths, Cosmic Crusader sits with TabTouch at $7 as equal third elect in the market.

Of others in the Northerly market, Saturday's Group 3 The Gong (1600m) winner Gringotts sits is rated a $26 chance with Tabtouch but trainer Ciaron Maher suggested a further Sydney assignment lies ahead for the in-form six-year-old.
