French banker of the day – 9th February 2026
Monday’s French banker is an improving handicapper looking to complete a double…

Le Conquerant - (Jean-Claude Rouget/Cristian Demuro)
Cagnes-sur-Mer – R5 - Prix de Saint-Jeannet
The improving Le Conquerant seems to handle these conditions and could well have more to offer in middle-distance handicaps.
Trained by the all-conquering Jean-Claude Rouget and ridden by top pilot Cristian Demuro, Le Conquerant has been a model of consistency in his eight career starts, winning on two occasions and finding the frame on a further four starts.
He posted an effort full of promise when runner-up on his handicap debut at Salon-de-Provence in November and it didn't take long for him to get on the scoresheet in handicap company. Always well-positioned throughout, he picked up well in the closing stages to draw two and a half lengths clear of his rivals in a mile and a half Class 3 handicap at Cagnes-sur-Mer last month.
It's no shock to see connections return to the same course and distance for his follow-up bid, while the booking of top jockey Cristian Demuro, who was on board last time, must be seen as a positive once more.
He's 5lb higher in the weights here, but remains open to further progress, handles this course and distance and has a consistent profile.
