French banker of the day
Wednesday’s French banker of the day is a talented three-year-old looking to get back to winning ways…
New Run (Charles Gourdain/Théo Bachelot)
La Teste De Buch – R2 - Prix Testa In Bogio
- Unexposed type who should have more to offer
- Switches to the turf for the first time
- Impressed on debut
Plenty of these will fancy their chances in a wide-open looking contest but it could pay to take a small chance on New Run, who put up a fairly taking performance when striking on debut before perhaps things failed to pan out when beaten in a conditions event at Pau second up.
It was tough not to be impressed with the manner in which he put the race to bed at Pau on debut and as a result, he was well-backed to follow-up in a Class 2 back at the same venue. He was ultimately last of five on that occasion, but he was only beaten a length and three quarters in a muddling contest, which saw him travel up sweetly before struggling for a racing room down on the inside rail.
He should get a more truly run contest in this ten-runner affair, while the switch to racing on turf ought to prove no problems.
The likes of Sheeran, Sport Wood and Peligroso all require respect, but at the current prices, New Run looks like a decent spot of value based on his two efforts thus far.
