French banker of the day – 28th January 2026
Wednesday’s French Banker is a Karaktar filly looking to secure the hat-trick…
Marigny (Emmanuel Clayeux /Clement Lefebvre)
Pau – R4 – Prix Leon Daran
- Promise in flat contests earlier in her career.
- Successful hurdling debut over course and distance 17 days ago.
Marigny looks up to making it two wins from two starts over hurdles in the Prix Leon Daran.
Following a satisfactory debut in the spring, Marigny failed to make an impact when upped to Grade 3 level for two starts in the Autumn. However, returned to a more realistic level, she readily got off the mark on the flat at Moulins during the festive period before making a seamless transition to the hurdling game over thus course and distance two and a half weeks ago.
Emmanuel Clayeux's filly had been fitted with the hood for her first three outings but she's now two from two without and it's of no surprise to see the headgear left off once more today. Whilst she'll need to take a further step forward to defy the penalty for her recent course success, it was tough not to be impressed with her professionalism first time out over hurdles and there should be plenty more to come from this daughter of Karaktar, who is really beginning to find her feet since switching to more patient tactics.
There should be enough pace in the race to allow her to settle nicely off the speed and with that in mind, she can make it two wins from as many outings over hurdles in this informative four-year-old contest.
