French banker of the day – 22nd January 2026
Thursday’s French Banker is a Saxon Warrior gelding who looks ready to double his tally…

Henry The Lion (Nicolas Perret /Sylvain Ruis) Deauville – R1 – Prix de la Pointe du Siege
- Drops back into claiming company for the first time since October.
- Consistent without getting his head in front.
Henry The Lion is drawn nicely to strike from stall two and comes out on top of the ratings ahead of his return to claiming company in the Prix de la Pointe du Siege.
Whilst his career win-rate doesn't inspire confidence with just one victory from 33 starts, Henry The Lion has held his form well in recent months in a much higher grade, while the form of his last two claiming starts from the autumn reads strongly.
Likely to be ridden handily, Henry The Lion should have no problem with finding a good position from his kind draw, while the cheekpieces, which have helped him remain competitive with four placed efforts from his last five starts, remain intact.
Furthermore, his three placings from four starts over the course and distance should prove beneficial and with that in mind, he looks well-placed to land the Deauville opener now dropped in grade.
