Dormez Vous (Francis-Henri Graffard/Christophe Soumillon)

Chantilly – R4 - Prix du Four à Tuile

Powerhouse trainer Francis-Henri Graffard has kicked off 2026 as he finished 2025 and he teamed up with leading rider Christophe Soumillon to provide him with his 4000th winner in France earlier in the week.

It's quite possible we saw something special that day and whilst I'm not quite sure Dormez Vous fits into the same category, there's no doubt that this well-bred colt has enough ability to be getting off the mark.

A son of top sire Wootton Bassett, Dormez Vous looked desperately in need of the experience when fifth on debut at Longchamp last August and understandably, connections opted put him away for the winter to develop both physically and mentally.

He showed that natural improvement when filling the runner-up spot over a trio just shy of a mile and a quarter at Deauville 20 days ago, shaping as though there would be plenty more to come from him now that he's got that run under his belt.

The booking of top jockey Christophe Soumillon has to be considered a positive and, in all truth, it would be disappointing were he not to get off the mark for the Coolmore team.
