French Banker - 24th December 2025
Wednesday’s French Banker is an eight-year-old gelding going in pursuit of four wins on the bounce…

Hip Hop Conti ( Emmanuel Clayeux / James Reveley )
Pau – R2 – Prix Mortimer de Lassence
- Thorough stayer having his second start of the season
- Lightly raced in recent seasons and brings proven class into this contest
Hip Hop Conti, winner of the Listed Grand Cross de Pau Reverdy in 2023 arrives in this contest in sparkling form, having returned from a layoff to win here two weeks ago.
Having taken time to mature and develop, Hip Hop Conti has really found his niche as a steeplechaser with eight victories from fifteen starts. A winner on this card three years ago over shorter when winning the Prix du Pau Hunt contest on the cross-country course, Hip Hop Conti has since rattled off five wins from his last eight outings. Off the track since January 2024, Hip Hop Conti returned here a fortnight ago when landing the Prix Hubert de Navailles by one and a quarter lengths. That was an impressive performance after the layoff completing a hat-trick of wins following two successes in the early part of 2024.
Hip Hop Conti is out of the dam Starmoss, who was an unplaced maiden after four starts in her racing career. Hip Hop Conti is a half-brother to two-timer winner Jeddie Conti. Starmoss is a close relation to six winners including being a full-sister to two-time winner Grand Moss.
Improvement is highly likely from Hip Hop Conti having been off the track for so long and therefore, in a discipline at a track he loves he should prove very hard to beat.
