Balanchine at Meydan Friday
Things are getting warmer in Meydan heading towards the DWC at the end of March.
Dubai racing report that Forever Young has arrived and is settling in well after his fabulous feat in Riyadh winning his second successive Saudi Cup and becoming the richest prize winner in history!
However of more immediate interest is the program at Meydan this Friday where the feature will be the G2 Balanchine Stakes for the f&m over 1800m with seven runners. Cape Verdi winner Dubai Beach and her Saeed bin Suroor stablemate Dubai Treasure are both in great form according to the trainer. Kevin Shoemark will be up on the former and Oisin Orr the latter.
Godolphin's Appleby-Buick team will compete with Blue Nazare, who was impressive on debut in the UK and in that market comes in on 11/10. Since we don't know how she has travelled we won't be tempted by that price and will stick to Dubai Beach who should be able to cope with the increase in trip.
The Nad Al Sheba Trophy G3 is on turf and has 8 runners headed by the Appleby-Buick horse By The Book on 7/4. David Menusier saddles Sunway 9/4 with de Sousa on board and Tom Marquand is on Aeronautic for Joseph O'Brien on 11/2.
