A two-year-old handicap early in the day produces the best bet on the card.

SEQUISTA has only raced twice and been competitive against some of the best juveniles of this crop.

In December she debuted in the rich Inglis Nursery at Randwick where she was ridden back from a tricky gate before flashing home late to be beaten under a length by Within The Law.

A four-month break followed then she appeared in the $1 million Group 2 Percy Sykes over 1200m during The Championships.

In a change of tactics, Tyler Schiller pushed forward to lead on the filly and although under pressure for the entirety of the race she battled on well to be beaten just over two lengths by arguably the top filly in the land, Tempted.

The Ryan/Alexiou team may be heading to Queensland with this daughter of D'Argento – she is currently 25/1 for the Group One Atkins. A confidence-boosting win before heading north might be the reasoning behind this sharp drop in grade.

At better than even-money in early markets she looks a very attractive bet.

We wait until the last for the best value in the Kris Lees-trained MEMORIA.

Lees would have few more honest mares in his yard than this five-year-old, who has won seven of twenty-six with another eleven minor placings. She is two-from-three at Gosford and the majority of her wins have come at Saturday's trip of 1200m.

Last start the mare pushed forward to lead from a wide alley and defied all challengers for a gutsy win over six furlongs at Randwick.

She tackles a field of similar quality this time but only goes up one kilo after Osmond's claim.

The other pace in the race (Deprivation and pre-post favourite Raikkonen) have drawn either side of Memoria. She has been effective in the past when taking a sit, so Osmond has that option if the others want the lead.

In any event the mare will make her own luck on the speed and around the tight Gosford circuit she will give backers a great sight at around the $8 mark.
