Victoria’s finest hone in on Pink Diamond

Victoria’s celebrated Pink Diamond Series kicked off last Thursday with Maidens at Geelong and it goes up a gear this Thursday with series’ of heats at Ballarat and Shepparton.

Explicit.

The state's superstar Explicit is the headline act.

He's in the opening heat of the Champion Sprinter at Shepparton and very fresh off the back of his faultless Ballarat Cup win last Friday. Which he did in the third fastest time (24.69) in the past 10 years behind Hotel Whisky One and Silver Lake.

The action at Shepparton in the afternoon transitions to the Ballarat meeting at night with the same suite of heats.

Three Ballarat Cup finalists clash in the opening Champion Sprinter heat there – Matt Loch, Morton and Mepunga Rocky.

Things don't cool down in the following race either. Did you catch Mepunga Flyer's win on Ballarat Cup night? In just his fourth start he set the 10th fastest time (24.76) in the past 10 years – just a length shy of Explicit.

He meets the intensely talented Tribeca, who has drawn poorly in the widest alley. The field collectively has won 53 of their 123 starts. That's Race 9.

That's Thursday's action, it then rolls on to meetings at Bendigo and Warragul on Friday.

All Pink Diamond events culminate next Friday night June 13 at Geelong.
