Traumatise rewrites record books in Silver Chief heats

Traumatise has opened the dominant favourite for this Saturday night’s Group 1 Silver Chief final at The Meadows after a history-making win in his heat.

He broke the long standing 525m track record that was held by Allen Deed (since 2015), with an unfathomable time of 29.359.

It was the cherry on top of what was an amazing set of heats, while others weren't as fast as Traumatise they provided a high level of entertainment.

The heat winners and two fastest runners-up progressed to the final. Click here for the box draw and market

Heat 1
Weblec Billy (1) was the first leg of a Silver Chief heat running-double for Jeff Britton. He came from slightly off the pace to win in good time.

Heat 2
All of the attention was on Dewana Star (2) who led for a big portion of the race and couldn't have done any more. Whiskey Whiskers (7) absolutely flew late to win.

Heat 3
Aston Countach (6) did everything but hold on. He was superb until final bounds when the versatile Vista Weird (8) cut loose late.

Heat 4
The extremely promising Off The Chart (2) went like a rocket early as expected, but again the leader didn't do enough. This time it was Ross The Boss (5) who took advantage of the opportunity on the line.

Heat 5
The one we've all been talking about. Traumatise (3) began like he was shot out of a cannon and cut loose from then onwards. We knew he'd go extremely fast, but we didn't think a track record could be on the cards.

Heat 6
Visually, this was possibly the most entertaining win of the night. Electrify (5) was well back mid-race with five backsides in front of him, amazingly he caught them all. Intrepidus (1) was very good in defeat, but he was another leader run down late.
