Race-by-race preview of Menangle, Saturday November 29
Race 1: BUBBA GUMP PEST CONTROL PACE
HUTA (5) has been freshened since he locked wheels and finished fourth as hot favourite last time. Was flying with three straight wins at this circuit prior. Two of them from wider draws than this. Can return to the winners' list. UNFAZED (7) has been tackling stronger opposition of late but will relish dropping back to this company having won the last time he raced in this grade here last month. Big chance. DOUBLE FEAR (1) hasn't been too far away of late and should get every chance from the ace draw. FORCE FULL (2) is another that draws to advantage and he has found form, winning his past two outings from wider barriers. Chance again. RAVISHING SLOY (4) enjoys a class drop and draws to be competitive.
Race 2: BESTINBEDS.COM.AU BRIAN HANCOCK FFA
CAPTAINS KNOCK (10) is flying at present and made it three in a row with a tough victory in the Carnival of Cups opener last start at Wagga, racing three wide from his back row draw before settling outside the leader and proving too tough. Beat topliner Don Hugo for the second time in a row there and while he drops back to the mile he was a strong winner of the Italian Cup over the distance here two back. UBETCHA TIGERPIE (9) relished the return to this circuit when winning narrowly here last week. Draws wider but looking for another strong showing. MAX DELIGHT (11) has chased Captains Knock at his last couple, beaten only 2.3m last time. Draws out but can be in the finish again. NYACK (8) will be improved by his resuming third from the outside barrier. RIPP (7) was down the track behind Captains Knock at Wagga but placed behind him twice in a row here prior so is worth including.
Race 3: ULTRA AIR PACE
MIKI COHEN (5) has had six weeks off since a second at Melton and looks well placed returning to this circuit having record three wins and a Listed fourth in his last four appearances here. Has enough speed to go forward from this barrier. Big chance. BOLD MEDLEY JUJON (1) switches from Queensland to the Kevin Pizzuto yard and brings very strong form with three wins and a second from his last four appearances. Has the speed to take advantage of the ace draw so could make an immediate impact. ISLA ROCHELLE (2) came from a similar barrier to win at this circuit and distance last week, her third success in four starts since joining Brad Hewitt for this campaign. Can make an impact again. HES A MEISTER (10) draws deepest but has recorded two wins and a second from his last three attempts at this circuit and distance.
Race 4: SUCCESS STUD TEENY TEENY STAKES
Hard to knock the form of DELIGHTFUL STAR (7) who came from the outside barrier for second here last time. Beat a good mare to win at this circuit and distance prior and missed by just a head at Group 3 level at Melton last month. That reads well for this. PET KITTY (8) made a winning start for Melanie Elder when she dug deep to get the job done in her first visit to this venue. That continued her strong Victorian form, giving her five wins from seven starts this time in. Draws wide but could take this next step. WHILEMENA RITA (9) draws wider than she did in winning here last week but is going well enough to be competitive again from out there as is CHEEKY KISS (10) who raced three wide before finishing only 2.2m behind Whilemena Rita last week. TENACIOUSLY (3) has been ticking along okay without winning but she draws well and may appreciate the return to her own sex.
Race 5: CLUB MENANGLE ROD AND FRAN FITZPATRICK TATLOW STAKES (LISTED CLASSIC)
SHOWMETHETANLINES (9) is a lightly-raced but promising colt who hasn't raced since a placing at Melton in June but two recent trial wins suggest he is in good order. Draws out but he has raced here just once for a G3 Sapling Stakes win over this distance so looks to have the class edge on this field. LEXY (5) is a consistent colt who has been kept fresh since adding to a string of wins and placings with a third in the Breeders Challenge 2CG Final at this circuit and distance last month. Came from this barrier when runner-up in his semi-final prior. Has the speed to go forward so looks a challenger. A BUCK TEN (6) is back in winning form having come from this draw for an easy win at Penrith last start and has produced some good efforts at this circuit and distance. KIKI MEISTER (2) draws nicely and has been racing well in Brisbane so is worth including.
Race 6: APG PACING WITH EXCITEMENT 3YO STAKES
OUR SWEET DELIGHT (9) was beaten into second as a hot favourite last week but had won all four previous visits to this circuit. A wide draw creates a challenge but he is suited against his own age group and has the gate speed to go forward so can return to the winners' circle. CATCHAFIRE (6) draws lower than he did in the last-start fourth and was good in scoring a win at this circuit and distance prior. Has been very consistent this time in and should measure up. BUSINESS IN HEAVEN (5) is finding it hard to put another win on the board but could be close after placing in his last three outings here, one from this barrier and the other two from wider draws. CYNICAL (2) is a progressive filly who came from this same draw last start to make it three wins in a row at this circuit and distance. TENMINUTES (7) chased Cynical home as runner-up from this draw last start to continue his consistent form. Include.
Race 7: MULTIQUIP AGGREGATES TROTTERS MOBILE
Inter Dominion winner THE LOCOMOTIVE (5) makes his first appearance since his Swedish mission over the winter but has been readied with two trials and has won fresh before. Loves racing here with eight wins from 11 appearances and has the class edge on this field. SHEETWEB WEAVER (4) continued his consistent form when placed behind an in-form rival at this circuit and distance last time out. His recent wins have been in standing start races but he is honest and race fit. JUNGLE EYES (3) came from a similar draw to this for a Listed win at this circuit and distance last month and hasn't been too far away since. SPEEDY LOVER (6) draws lower than he did last week when he recorded his third placing from his last four appearances here.
Race 8: SKY RACING PACE
LETS TURN IT ON (2) is in good form, continuing a string of top-three finishes with a second from a wider barrier here last week. Good effort to win at this circuit and distance prior. Should get his chance from the low draw. ITZMINEONTHELINE (9) draws wide but there was plenty to like about the latest performance when he pushed forward and fought well to go under by just a head. Can measure up with even luck. CARLO GAMBINO (7) looks close to another win having come from one spot wider for a 2.2m second at this circuit and distance last week. ALTA SIERRA (6) won fresh at Penrith then came from this barrier when beaten less than 4m last week. Could be peaking third-up.
BEST BETS:
Race 4 #7 Delightful Star – Draws lower this week and the form reads strongly for this.
Race 8 #2 Lets Turn It On – Racing well and should get every chance from the low draw.
