Staking Strategy: Devonport - Sunday, 7th September 2025
The first of four consecutive meetings on the Devonport synthetic begins this Sunday.
It's a competitive eight-race card with the first race scheduled for 13:00.
R1 Stall Gate Kiosk Bm68 Hcp, 1880m
Tuskegee (1) has won his past couple and looks the testing material again. At his only start this track and trip was second-placed behind the eventual Derby winner Likeakalix. AFRICAN THUNDER (6) has battled this prep coming off an extended layoff but there were encouraging signs at Hobart, gets a handy claim, light-weight chance. SUGOI LEGEND (4) and MIGHTYMAXI (5) are always competitive in these races. BLONDE STAR (2) is unproven at this trip and on this surface but won a good race at Launceston 2 back then had tempo against at her latest. BLONDE SUSPECT (3) last run was better than it looks and will find this easier an easier assignment.R2 Leigh Jordan One Agency Collins Real Estate 3yo Maiden, 1150m
Prince Of Khatun (2) was far from disgraced behind the highly talented Zany Girl in his first preparation and will be tough to beat first up on his home track. The debutantes WHO'S IN DEV (6) and DON TURBOAS (1) have both trialled well and look the obvious threats. AWESOME ORPHAN (3) finished just out of the placings on debut but have a query over the strength of that race going forward.R3 Ladbrokes Quick Multi Maiden, 1009m
Alpine Dame (5) was just no match for the winner in a moderate maiden this track and trip last start, this is no harder. MISS TIINA (8) didn't have a lot of luck in that same race having to switch course in the straight and was arguably stiff not to win. STROAK OF ART (10) trial win was solid enough and strikes a winnable race on debut and maps well. CARDIOSPHERE (1) has drawn better than his last couple, include in exotics. AFFIRMATIONS (4) and LADY ATLAS (7) haven't trialled locally, betting the best guide for these mainland horses.R4 Kevin Sharkie C1 Hcp, 1350m
Geegees Downpour (2) put the writing on the wall 2 runs back then came out and won his maiden in good style at his next start. He's progressive and can measure up again. VINO NOVELLO (1) lived up to his good trial form winning on debut at this track and trip. There was a bit of merit to the win albeit the overall time wasn't flash. I'M CHEV (4) was just even first up but will relish the extra ground and blinkers go on again so can improve without surprising. THEM'S THE BREAKS (5) was slowly away at Hobart but finished off well and a chance if gets the breaks at the right time. SPECIALIZED (9) and SMART ARTIE (3) were both caught wide last start and their efforts were sound over an unsuitable trip.R5 Lending 4 U C4, 1350m
A tough start to the first leg of the quaddie. Creative Licence (5) just held his ground at Hobart last Sunday but the run here prior was very good and maps for an economical run. AGNETE (3) has returned in good order with a last to first win resuming and then worked home soundly from midfield at her latest. WHIPPIN PICCADILLY (10) has been an improver this time in winning 2 of her last 3 and ran excellent time at her latest. Will need favours from the wide gate but she's going well. ADACHI (2) and FIGHTING FOR GOLD (8) are consistent performers and genuine chances again. DANCING WOLF (6) has been plain at both runs this time in but her best is competitive and might be an improver on her home track. STREET DIVA (9) seldom runs poorly but is on trial at this track and trip.R6 Tasmanian Horse Transport C2 Hcp, 1150m
Another competitive race. Zoete's Rock (7) saves his best for here and is going well. Not a lot of luck last start and 7 weeks fresh for this. NIGHT INVADER (6) is in for a good preparation on the back of her last-to-first win resuming. Huge effort to get up and score over the 1009m. RED SPHERE (3) has been off the scene for close to 10 months, 3 trials have been sound, wide gate not a massive concern, market? KUSINI (5) has drawn the widest and is also first-up. Been well supported at both local runs. Looked to have an issue last start before the break. MASTRETTA (4) was okay first up and does have good ability but will concede a start. TURF PUZZLE (8) is fit and in form and shouldn't be far away. GET 'EM WARRIOR (1) won this track and trip 2 runs back in this grade. Forgive last run at Hobart on the soft.R7 The Stables At Spreyton Bm68 Hcp, 1150m
Thoros Of Myr (2) brings winning form, makes own luck and is always gives a sight this track and trip. CHEROKEE DANCER (8) was beaten by a smart one first up and couldn't have drawn any better, gets a cheap run leaders back or 3 back.. GEEGEES CITY BOY (1) and CORNELIAN BAY (5) are proven performers and always have to be respected in this grade and this venue. POWER MAGNUM (10) chased a hot tempo last time and stuck to task well. GOLDEN MEADOW (7) doesn't win out of turn but is more than capable with the right run.R8 Goodstone Group Maiden/class 1, 1880m
There was a bit to like about the win of Purr Sefanee (11) last Sunday leading all the way at Hobart. The time was good and she was strong on and through the line. Strikes tougher opposition here but has upside and could go on with it. GEEGEE AUNTY JESS (6) is racing well and was beaten by the barest possible margin last start after being caught wide early. KNIGHTS REIGN (7) has mainland form which looks solid enough to be more than competitive. SKELMORLIE (13) has been ultra consistent and deserves to break through. DON'T GIVE UP (2) should just about be ready third run back. Not much luck at his latest but boxed on solidly and this easier than his past couple. OPENSEA (10) was 5 weeks between runs last time and he ran okay. LYCO RECO (8) has claims from the good alley.
