Winning Trainer: Peter Moody & Katherine Coleman
From Coleman:
On Zac Spain: "I'm thrilled for Zac, he's a big part of our stable, he does so much work behind the scenes. That wasn't easy for him, he had to be patient, he made the right call, thankfully he had the horse underneath him to accelerate like that, thrilled for him, he really deserves it."
In the run: "We were hoping that she would be able to produce for him when he needed her to. Geez she's exciting this filly, you don't want to get too ahead of yourself but I think she's something really special."
Good enough to win a Randwick Guineas: "Damn right she is."
From Moody:
Decision to scratch last week: "We just thought she needed to come on a little bit. She needed one more gallop, and I'm happy we did it. We did the right thing by her. Unfortunately, it cost us an opportunity to run next Saturday in the Australian Guineas, which was always our aim, but now we might have to head to Sydney to take them on in the Randwick Guineas."
Important race: "I'd just like to say I was wonderfully proud to win this race. Angus Armanasco, for me to have the opportunity to train out of his base here at Caulfield for all the years I did after all the great success he had— five times it makes me very proud.
"It's a bit like winning the TJ in Sydney for me. My old boss and then my old landlord. So I'm really proud to win that too. I know there's not a lot of Armanasco's left around, but thinking of them and great to win the race named in the great man's honour."
Plans: "We're open-minded. There won't be a deep campaign, that's why we were keen to run her down here twice, because she's had a long year last year.
"So it won't be deep, and we'll be back for the spring. You dream of her, could she be a Cox Plate filly? But at worst, well it's a terrible thing to say 'at worst' you've got a race like the Golden Eagle. You've got the Empire Rose. There's a lot of options, so we just need to make sure we look after her. We've harnessed Fred's enthusiasm. He's a lovely man, but he's happy to let us steer the ship, but more importantly, he's happy for the horse to steer the ship.
"We've got the fillies option at Flemington in two weeks, a mile, or the Randwick Guineas, and if she needs another week we can maybe look at something in Sydney beyond that. So, no rush. We'll enjoy today."
Mystery 'N' Drama: "Super there for Team Yulong. She's out of a great mare in Unforgotten a Group One winner, so very important to get that on the resume for a filly like her. So thanks to Yulong, and she's one that you will definitely see at Flemington in two weeks' time."
Winning Jockey: Zac Spain
Thoughts in run: "Please God, open something. I was just going so well, good horses get you out of trouble. I wanted to try and hold the box seat but I would've been out of my comfort zone so I had to just let her travel in hand and just believe in her, really."
Good support: "I can't thank Kat and Moods for the support they've given me, that's three group winners in three weeks so I'm glad that they can trust me on these good horses and I'm glad I can repay them."
