Selangor Race Preview: Sunday - 25th May 2025

There will be several runners on the six or seven day back up from last weekend buttering up again for the Selangor Turf Club Meeting this Sunday commencing at 12.45pm.

One of those is promising three year old LEGEND SIXTY-THREE which looks ideally placed with the 53.5kg in the 1150m Class 4B contest (Race 2). The youngster really made the ultra-consistent Outfit fight for the win last Saturday after dictating the pace from the top end and he looks a chance to break through in Class 4 grade on the inner track. PALETAS is coming off a three month break and his first up record of three wins from six starts stands him in good stead. Producing a 1200m win at his only run last campaign, the eight year old cannot be discounted provided he stays sound.

WINNING STRIDE and DON'T FORGET BOSS provided the quinella in an 1800m Class 4 race three weeks ago and are set to clash again in the 2000m Supreme A contest (Race 6). Both gallopers came with well-timed runs with only a short head separating the pair as WINNING STRIDE gained the judges verdict to post his Malaysian victory. WINNING STRIDE has placed three times over the staying trip while DON'T FORGET BOSS has scored once in two tries over 2000m, including his unplaced effort in last year's Singapore Gold Cup. Both runners will carry similar weights and a result reversal would not surprise. PACIFIC BAO BEI has won three times at the trip and was runner up in the 2000m G1 Perak Derby earlier this year.

A couple of former Australian gallopers from the Richard Lines camp could feature prominently in the 1300m Open Maiden (Race 7) with one making its Malaysian debut. New Zealand bred four year old KIM GENERAL chalked up three placings from eight runs in Victoria and trialled fairly without being overtaxed at the track on Tuesday morning. The gelding resumes from a six month spell and is one to watch for its local debut. Stable mate KIM LUCKY, a four year old mare which also races under the same ownership has got the local experience after four starts. Her last start performance was her best so far when finishing runner up to Trees Of Valinor on May 4. LUCKY WARRIOR will be one of the major players with three placings from six starts this season, including a last start 3rd in that same race won by Trees Of Valinor.

From the trial session conducted at the club Tuesday week ago, SILVER SAMURAI indicated that he looks ready to go first up in the 1200m Class 4A contest (Race 8). The five year old was very unlucky not to finish closer when held up in a 1200m contest on December 1 last year won by AERAS, which coincidently goes around in the same race on Sunday. SILVER SAMURAI ran 3rd in the trial but appeared quite sharp and his first up form suggests he is one to look for at value odds. BURAAQ SIXTY-ONE is also due to strike following three runs back in the grade. The eight year old closed off well from last at the 800m last start to run 5th, beaten 2.25 lengths and will hopefully give trainer AB Abdullah a change of luck in what has been a very lean run for the stable this year.
