Selangor Race Preview: Sunday - 18th May 2025
One of the better performances emanating from the last meeting at Selangor Turf Club on May 4 was that of LEGEND OF NIAGARA who is a chance to strike a victory in the 1600m Class 4A contest (Race 4) this Sunday.
Reeling off one of the quickest final sectionals for the day, LEGEND OF NIAGARA closed off strongly to finish 3rd in the Listed Chairman's Trophy over the mile. The five year old is not a quick beginner but he does possess a quick turn of acceleration and is on target to record his first win over the 1600m. TENNET TENTENNET is coming off a short break following two runs in the country yielding two minor placings. The four year old goes well when produced fresh and has won up to 1700m so is a definite watch. ENGINE START and IMPERIAL SABRE finished 1st and 2nd respectively in a 1500m Class 4 race at the May 3 meeting where IMPERIAL SABRE is placed better at the weights this time around from the better draw.
PACIFIC VAMPIRE finally came out and recaptured his best form he was renowned for which saw him score on four occasions when based in Singapore and will be hard to beat again in the 1100m Supreme A contest (Race 9) . The front running tearaway tactics came to fruition when the five year old never gave his rivals a chance by leading throughout in the NZB Walter Vijay Trophy two weeks ago defeating group winner, Noah Khan by just over two lengths. BIG UNION will break through in the country soon and could be the one to provide the value for the exotics. Unbeaten in two previous runs over 1100m, the four year old stormed home to finish a head second behind ENERGY BABY over 1400m and the Jerome Tan stable is starting to produce winners on a regular basis this season.
