Eagle Farm hosts a midweek meeting this Wednesday with eight races on the card, and I've got your full preview and tips ready to go.

The track is currently a Soft 5, and with the race day forecast suggesting showers, we should be racing on a track with the sting out of it.

With the rail out 12m the entire course, horses racing on pace should be favoured.

Let's dive in and see if we can find a few Eagle Farm winners to brighten your Wednesday!

Race 1 – Maiden Plate (1800 METRES)

No. 1 Casterly Rock

Casterly Rock (1) looks ready to breakthrough for his maiden win after finishing in the placings in his past three starts. The Jack Bruce-trained son of Pierro was excellent last start over this distance at the Gold Coast when finding the line strongly to finish a head second with third two lengths away. He's rock hard fit and I like the blinkers coming off and being replaced by a visor. Damien Thornton should be able to settle in a prominent position from barrier 2.

Race 2 – Maiden Plate (1000 METRES)

No. 3 Yoyo Yeezy

Yoyo Yeezy (3) suffered from the thumps and slow recovery when finishing seven lengths fifth to Deep Vegas on debut over 1110m at Doomben. The Matt Hoysted-trained gelding had impressed at the trials prior to that, winning twice with consummate ease. He obviously has ability and can show his true potential after returning to Deagon for a trial recently where he led before cruising to the line for a close second. He was difficult to load on debut so a barrier blanket will be used, and I'd suggest from the good gate that Damien Thornton will look to go forward.

Race 3 – BENCHMARK 65 Handicap (1400 METRES)

No. 5 Velozes

Velozes (5) hasn't won since claiming the victory over 1350m at Doomben in April last start so she's more than overdue, but she gets her chance here. The Tony Gollan-trained mare improved significantly last start when stepping up to this course and distance where she hit the front in the straight before being picked off late to finish a neck second with third 2.1 lengths away. She's at peak fitness now and should enjoy a sweet run with Angela Jones stalking the speed from a kind draw.

Race 4 – Maiden Plate (1400 METRES)

No. 4 Righteous Legend

Righteous Legend (4) looks well placed in her first start for Peter Robl after previously racing in Sydney. The son of Justify was last seen giving a good sight over 1550m at Canterbury before being run down late to finish a neck third. Earlier this preparation he finished close seconds in back-to-back races at Newcastle and Hawkesbury. Robl has taken off several pieces of gear and has added a crossover nose band. Jag Guthmann-Chester will give him the run of the race.

Race 5 – Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 1 Handicap (1200 METRES)

No. 5 De Forza

De Forza (5) returned in great order last start over 1015m at Coffs Harbour, albeit a touch unlucky.  The Lawrie Mayfield-Smith-trained colt found the line well along the fence but was blocked for a run late and had to settle for a 1.18 length fourth.  He'll have taken benefit from the run and won his only previous second-up race.  While he takes on this distance for the first time, he looks more than capable of handling it and will carry just 55kg after the claim.

Race 6 – Fillies & Mares Class 1 Handicap (1200 METRES)

No. 3 Bright Blonde

Bright Blonde (3) will appreciate the drop in class after a solid effort in a Saturday BM70 Handicap at the Sunshine Coast. The Billy Healey-trained mare loomed in the straight but didn't get a clear path late to finish just under two lengths sixth to Mr Verse who franked the form by finishing third at Rosehill on Saturday. That followed an unlucky run over this distance at the Sunshine Coast where despite racing three-wide, she finished strongly for a length third. She's at peak fitness now and should settle in a handy position for Bailey Wheeler.

Race 7 – BENCHMARK 65 Handicap (1000 METRES)

No. 4 Surprise Honey

Surprise Honey (4) resumes here on the back of a nice trial where she cruised around for a 1.3 length fourth to Without Parallel who won in impressive fashion on Saturday. The Tony Gollan-trained filly races well fresh and won easily first-up last preparation over 800m at Ipswich. She's had two previous starts at Doomben, winning by 2.3 lengths two starts ago over this distance and finishing 2.3 lengths sixth in the QTIS Jewel Prelude. Emily Lang, who claims 1.5 lengths, will go forward and settle in a handy position.

Race 8 – Class 3 Handicap (1800 METRES)

No. 1 Captain Fenkel

Captain Fenkel (1) had been competing in black-type races like the Tattersall's Mile so he appreciated dropping back to this grade at Ipswich last start. Unfortunately, the Marcus Wilson-trained gelding finished strongly over 1690m but just couldn't catch El Pensador to finish a length second with third 2.5 lengths away. He's rock hard fit and is a previous winner at the track. Cobi Vitler's 3kg claim comes in very handy and the young hoop should make the most of the inside barrier and roll forward.
