Giselle gallops on to Lingfield Oaks Trial triumph
Giselle makes light work of her two rivals.
Fresh off the back of dominating the Chester Classic trials earlier in the week, Aidan O'Brien and Ryan Moore teamed up to win the William Hill Oaks Trial Fillies' Stakes.
A good third in the Group 3 Staffordstown Stud Stakes at the Curragh on her final start last season, the beautifully bred daughter of Frankel – who is out of the Breeders' Cup winner in Newspaperofrecord – was sent off a 30/100 chance to beat her two rivals.
Despite being keen in the early stages, she readily picked up the other two contenders in the straight before lengthening away for a commanding nine-length success under Ryan Moore.
Harpsichord finished back in second, with the front-running Love Talk last of the trio.
"She's a very talented filly," said Ryan Moore on ITV Racing. "Obviously, today wasn't any sort of a contest but it's nice to get her started back and she hasn't had to do too much there,"
"She's got plenty of ability and we'll just see if we can get the best out of her.
"When she puts everything together, she could be very good."
Paddy Power cut the winner to 10/1 (from 16s) for the Epsom Oaks.
When asked if she could be an Oaks filly, Moore said: "She's definitely that class of horse, there's no doubt about that. We've always thought very highly of her.
"Today's race was nothing more than a bit of work for her, but she came through it nicely."
Paul Smith, son of Coolmore's Derrick Smith, added: "Ryan said she's a top-class filly who is going the right way.
"It was a slow pace and now we have options either way (on the trip).
"For sure, she will have learned a lot from today, and she's in the mix for the Oaks."
