Extreme Choice share sells for $540k
Share in star stallion sells to Queensland farm for big money
Glenlogan Park aggressively pursued what it hopes will be a decade-long investment when it secured the Extreme Choice share that was the banner lot of this week's Inglis Digital Sale.
The Queensland farm paid $540,000 for the share in the son of Not A Single Doubt, who Newgate Farm will this year stand at a fee of $330,000, including GST.
The share entitles Glenlogan Park to one nomination per season with a restriction of two covers per nomination, per season with the cover not carrying any free returns.
Extreme Choice, who will turn 12 on August 1, has battled fertility issues throughout his stud career and serves a limited book but Glenlogan Park's Steve Morley said the chance to claim a share was too good an opportunity to pass up.
"The reality is, the stats emanating from this stallion speak for themselves and the word 'freak' certainly has to be in the conversation,'' Morley said.
"When you look at those stallions at the top end of the market, Extreme Choice is younger than all of them and he's already provided Group 1 horses.
"Glenlogan have a number of very high-class mares and from a long-term point of view, we think we will be able to get some great results with Extreme Choice in the next say eight-to-10 years."
Extreme Choice, a winner of the Blue Diamond and Moir Stakes on the track, is one of the rare stallions to produce both a Melbourne Cup winner (Knight's Choice) and Golden Slipper winner (Stay Inside).
This year his son Devil Night followed in his footsteps when the Blue Diamond at just his second start.
The Extreme Choice entitlement is the second stallion share to sell for big money in the past month with a share in Widden Stud's star resident Zoustar selling for $1.1m via Inglis Digital at the end of April.
That share, offered by Qatar Bloodstock, was purchased by Boomer Bloodstock on behalf of a client and valued the 14-year-old son of Northern Meteor at an eye-watering $66 million.
