THOROUGHBREDS

Scone: Race 5; #2 Caltsar Down Arrow

Caltsar is the current race favourite and did win at a short price on debut last time out and now rises up to the 1600m here 2nd up now. While winning, he only did enough to make it there and will have to find some lengths of improvement to be able to handle this jump up in grade. Certainly capable of doing so, but in tricky conditions giving others a headstart, he looks short in the market.

Scone: Race 8; #16 Who Ever Thought Down Arrow

He's had his chance in a couple of Country Championships Qualifiers and drops back in grade here. He's relatively lightly raced and still has some upside, but surely he's well found in the market and has no figures to justify that price. Happy to take him on.

Townsville: Race 6; #10 Beau Rain Down Arrow

He's a good horse, but I'm not a fan of the set up today. He's first-up since August and hasn't had an official trial for us to go off and he's yet to win over 1200m. Expecting him to need the run and be peaking a bit later in the carnival with a race like the Cleveland Bay likely to be on the radar.

HARNESS

Gloucester Park: Race 6; #1 Montana D J Down Arrow

Think Montana D J has opened way too short here, he is no certainty to lead in my opinion and even if he does there looks to be plenty of pressure. This definitely a harder task than last week.
