Easter Sale – Group 1 siblings
A look at some of the siblings to Group 1 winners who will be offered at Inglis Easter.
The Inglis Easter Yearling Sale is one of the most prestigious offerings in the world and it is not hard to see why when you look at the catalogue for this year's sale, which will be held on Sunday and Monday.
While none of this year's book boast a sibling with the credentials of Winx, like the $10 million Pierro filly who stole the show last year, almost 10 percent of the 388-lot catalogue (post-withdrawals) are siblings, either half or full, to horses who have won at the highest level.
Below are 10 of the 36 youngsters who have a brother or sister who won a Group 1.
Lot 60: So You Think x Mine Game colt – Jameka
Gilgai Farm had an outstanding Melbourne Premier Sale, but the Nagambie operation has saved one of its biggest ticket items for Sydney with the half-brother to the Caulfield Cup winner a headline act of its 10-member draft.
Lot 76: Snitzel x Ms Bad Behavior colt – Switzerland
Ms Bad Behavior is no stranger to throwing a seven-figure Easter yearling with her first foal, Switzerland, fetching $1.5m two years ago before going on to win a Coolmore Stud Stakes. Arrowfield Stud will offer his brother a day after Switzerland chases T J Smith Stakes success at Randwick.
Lot 86: Zoustar x No More Tears colt – Ozzmosis
Twelve months before Switzerland won the Coolmore Stud Stakes, Ozzmosis won the race dubbed 'the Golden Slipper for three-year-olds' and The Chase has a brother to that former Bjorn Baker-trained colt, who now stands at Newgate Farm.
Lot 137: Dundeel x Salutations colt – Super Seth
Super Seth was not only a star on the track, winning a Caulfield Guineas, but he is now proving a rising star at stud, which means the brother that Arrowfield Stud is offering is certain to be popular.
Lot 187: Maurice x Star Pupil colt – Lady Shenandoah
Yet another highlight lot for Arrowfield, who again shapes as a key player in the leading vendor award, is the half-brother to not only Chris Waller's three-time G1 winner Lady Shenandoah but also Hong Kong G1 winner Stronger. The Arrowfield colt's sire Maurice has no shortage of well-related types to be offered with Arrowfield to also offer a half-brother to shoals by the Japanese star and Yulong has a half-brother to Sunshine In Paris, who runs in Saturday's T J Smith Stakes.
Lot 198: Zoustar x Summer Sham colt - Schwarz
This Widden Stud-prepared youngster is a late addition to the G1 winners' sibling list owing to Schwarz's breakthrough victory in the William Reid Stakes on March 22. Not A Single Doubt mare Summer Sham has been a star of recent Easter Sale's with Schwarz a $1.25m buy in 2022, his sister a $800,000 purchase the following year while another colt by Zoustar last year's fetched $1.55m.
Lot 275: Dundeel x Amerindia colt – Militarize
Bhima also has a strong draft and another of its headline lots is the brother to three-time G1 winner Militarize, who will look to go two better than last year in Saturday's Doncaster Mile.
Lot 290: Ocean Park x Baggy Green colt – Tofane
Galileo mare Baggy Green is from a mare who has also produced G1 winners Funstar and Youngstar and has proven a star performer herself, producing not only four-time G1 winner Tofane, but also The Metropolitan winner No Compromise, a son of Pins, and ATC Australian Derby runner-up Benaud. Yulong will offer the colt who is her eighth foal.
Lot 310: Zoustar x Bryony filly – Climbing Star
Being a filly who is a sister to last year's Sangster Stakes winner, Widden Stud would have high hopes for the daughter of Zoustar. She goes through the lot before Coolmore offers a So You Think colt who is a haf-brother to Caulfield Guineas winner Mighty Boss.
Lot 368: Ole Kirk x Eye For Fun colt – Mossfun
Eleven years after Eye For Fun's first foal won the Golden Slipper, Fairview Park Stud will offer the Snitzel mare's ninth foal.
Brothers to G1 winners Forbidden Love, Montefilia and Quick Thinker are also to be offered, along with sister to Wild Ruler and Gypsey Goddess, plus a three-quarter-brother to Shooting To Win.
Half-brothers to Affaire Au Suivre, Autumn Angel, Converge, Invincibella, Lasqueti Spirit, Pignan and Secret Agenda will be offered, along with half-sisters to Artorius, Captured By Love, El Castello, Kenedna, Peeping, Profondo, Shamal Wind and Socks Nation.
