Royal Ascot 2025 - Day 5
So far it's been exciting but is the best still to come?
That would be if we could get Japan a first Royal Ascot winner in the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes over 1200m with a field of 16. The horse in selected to do this is Satono Reve which is trained by a master in Hori-sensei and will be ridden by a genius in Joao Moreira who has partnered him in most of his recent runs. He was not far behind Ka Ying Rising in his two recent runs and. Ka Ying Rising is named as the best sprinter in the world.
So what is the opposition? Two French raiders – Lazzat who is current favourite on 3/1 and Sajir who is on a very generous 20/1. Then we have Inisherin 4/1 who won this race last year and Australia's own Storm Boy (for Aussies who know the film his dam is "Pelican") who was disappointing last time out but obviously needed the run and time to adjust. He may even need this run as well and is on 5/1.
The first of the Group races on the card is the Hardwicke Stakes G2 over 2400m with a field of 12 headed by Rebel's Romance for Appleby-Buick on 2/1 following four G1 wins in 2024 and the Yorkshire Cup.
We are going wide here and adding Al Aasy 10/1 Haggis-Crowley who is looking to go a bit better than his seven G3s to date and Epic Poet 16/1 who was second to Rebel's Romance in the Yorkshire Cup.
The Jersey Stakes G3 is over 1400m and has a field of 15 3yos. Remmooz has won both his starts at Doncaster and is on 3/1. We rather like Marvelman 9/2 Andrew Balding-Oisin Murphy who is a progressive type as is Spy Chief on 11/1 for the Gosdens and Robert Havlin. You have to include a Gosden runner and this one fills the bill nicely.
And then there's the Cavalry Charge known as the Wokingham Heritage Handicap with a full field of 28 runners which gives lots of opportunities. Our fairly sharp pin has landed on Arammen 7/1 for Richard Hannon and Ryan Moore, More Thunder 4/1 for Haggas-Marquand, Purosangue11/1 Balding-Murphy, 14/1 Zoum Zoum for Beckett-Rossa Ryan and 40/1Baker-Crowley. Good luck!
