Ipswich - 21st June 2025
Ipswich hosts a rare standalone meeting this Saturday with the running of three Listed races including the Ipswich Cup.
The Listed Ipswich Cup, Eye Liner Stakes and Gai Waterhouse Classic headline a competitive nine-race card at Ipswich this weekend.
Our best of the day comes up in the $200,000 Eye Liner Stakes in the form of Warnie out of the Ciaron Maher barn.
This import son of Highland Reel only narrowly went down in Group 2 company last time out and should find this assignment a touch easier.
Will appreciate the step-up to the 1350m here and maps perfectly for hoop Regan Bayliss from gate three.
Should be at his peak now third-up from the spell and is sure to be going very close to a well-deserved victory.
Our next best lands in the $160,000 Gai Waterhouse Classic with the hall of fame trainer trying to win her namesake race. Gerringong is on the back of consecutive runner-up finishes and is another that will be cherry-ripe third-up.
Trust that the champion conditioner has this daughter of Blue Point all set for this contest and only needs some luck navigating from the sticky draw to be playing a major role in the outcome.
Special mention goes to Queensland Oaks placegetter Miss Joelene in the $250,000 Ipswich Cup who should appreciate the 2150m trip.
