‘He gets a confident vote to get back to winning ways’ - Sam King’s daily wagers

Sam King is back with three selections on Wednesday.

Having hit the post with both wagers yesterday, I'm hopeful for some better luck with afternoon, starting at Chepstow where the presence of red-hot champion jockey Oisin Murphy should be noted.

He looks to have a handful of decent chances throughout the card, although it's his ride in the finale, Vape, that catches my eye the most.

A winner over course and distance off a 2lb higher mark last July, Vape made an encouraging return to action at the Welsh venue last week, showing plenty of early speed before keeping on nicely to finish a close-up fourth.

That was his first outing since October, so you can certainly expect a step forward this afternoon, while the booking of Murphy reflects some confidence from connections.

John & Rhys Flint's eight-year-old should have options from stall eight and he gets a confident vote to get back to winning ways in the closing six-furlong handicap at 5.35.

1pt Win – Vape

Odds – 9/4

Muy Muy Loco looks to hold strong claims of getting off the mark in the seven-furlong Class 6 handicap at Brighton (7.00) this evening.

Simon Dow's charge posted his best effort to date when coming home strongly to push a progressive horse to within a neck at Kempton earlier in the week. That was a performance that can be upgraded given the fact he missed the break on that occasion and found himself positioned further back than ideal, while the winner has since run very well to finish second at Bath to give the form a boost.

The gelded son of Phoenix Of Spain needs to prove he can handle this track on quick ground, but if doing so, he's preferred to Mr Ubiquitous, who scrambled home off 3lb lower at Windsor last time.

1pt Win - Muy Muy Loco

Odds – 3/1

On the same card, Devasboy went into plenty of notebooks when an unlucky third at Chepstow eight days ago.

Trained by Michael Appleby, the gelded son of Ectot found himself outpaced over seven furlongs at Chepstow before suffering significant trouble in running. Once in the clear, he picked up in eye-catching style under Tom Marquand, shaping as though the step back up to mile, which he receives this evening, would certainly suit.

He won his sole start at this venue to date back in 2021, and with Tom Marquand making the journey down south to partner him once more, they can be expected to gain compensation in the 7.30 this evening.

1pt Win – Devasboy

Odds – 5/2
