‘A stiff five furlongs at Beverley should play to his strengths’ - Sam King’s daily wagers
Sam King is back with three selections on Tuesday…
There is some top-class action at York getting underway tomorrow, so let's hope we can boost the punting pot with some winners on Tuesday.
Up at Beverley, Society Of Honor can claim the opening juvenile contest at 2.12 for a stable who have an excellent record in it.
Richard Fahey has landed the last three renewals of the five-furlong novice event on this card. All three of those winners have gone on to be rated in exceed of 90, so it's likely that the Fahey team expect a good deal more to come from Society Of Honor, who did go into the notebook after finishing off his race strongly on debut at Ayr three weeks ago.
He was sent off favourite that day, indicating there was plenty of expectation behind him, and although connections were likely disappointed that he could only finish third, they would have to have been happy with how he picked up once the penny dropped all too late.
A good draw in stall three and a stiff five furlongs at Beverley should play to his strengths.
He's selected to give Richard Fahey a fourth-straight success in this contest.
2pt Win - Society Of Honor
Odds – 15/8
Later on the card, the thriving Zappata can continue his winning streak for George Scott, albeit at slightly cramped odds.
He looked as good as ever when completing a quickfire four-timer over a mile at Ripon on Friday, taking his record to four from five in handicap company.
There's no doubt this will demand more under a double penalty, but he's been strong in the finish in his races thus far, shaping as though stepping up to ten furlongs for the first time could even bring out further improvement.
Liam Wright knows him inside out at this stage, and he's taken to make it five wins on the bounce at 4.12.
1pt Win – Zappata
Odds – 6/5
Our final wager comes in the finale. With Sir Mark Prescott handicap debutants renowned for improving for a sharp step up in trip, it's no shock to see Analogical head the betting on his handicap bow at 4.42.
However, he looks short enough in the market at a general 11/10 and it could pay to take him on with the Charlie Johnston-trained Rommie The Miracle, who has shown steadily progressive form in three starts to date.
Her clear second behind a wide-margin winner in a ten-furlong maiden last time out was fair form for this level, whilst just like the market leader, she's also open to improvement now tackling twelve furlongs for the first time on her handicap debut.
An opening mark of 60 doesn't look to daunting and at a general price of 4/1, she looks to be the value play.
1pt Win – Rommie The Miracle
Odds – 4/1
