2025 AFL Rd 18 Preview – GWS v GEELONG
Racing and Sports will provide analysis of games in the 2025 AFL Season.
We'll endeavour to run through the form, incorporate appropriate stats and also supply a betting prediction which won't always just be who will win.
GWS v GEELONG
Saturday 12 July @ Engie Stadium
The old graveyard spot of Twilight Saturday has a game which has seen some cracking clashes of late.
Geelong only has one kryptonite at home and that is the Giants. But this is not at Kardinia Park and they haven't met in Sydney very regularly.
GWS got the job done when playing in Perth. Nearly everyone knocks over the Eagles and they did it comfortably.
They also did it without having to bother with Jesse Hogan. You want those big forwards with continuity so hoping he's ready to rumble now.
| Match | GWS | Geelong | Ground |
| Last time they met | 16.9 [105] | 14.17 [101] | GMHBA |
| Last 10 matches | 6 wins | 4 wins | |
| Notes | They've met 17 times but only 4 have been in Sydney. | ||
| GWS has won the last 3 by an average margin of 5 points. | |||
Jeremy Cameron will always be the main focus of attention. But when at full strength (and not having late changes) the Cats will be able to let Dangerfield roam free up forward.
Not having him so physically drained from all the centre work from the season is a lovely spot to be come September.
Fancy GWS is ready to make their usual Finals surge. Their best is definitely good enough. And they have no issue with the Cats. So Giants it is.
Match Selection: GWS by 10 points
