FLEMINGTON

Group 1 - Australian Guineas

(3yo SW - 1600m)

Race Result:

1st: Observer (Ciaron Maher/Ethan Brown) - $1.85 fav
2nd: Planet Red (Mick Price & Michael Kent Jr/Jamie Melham) - $7
3rd: Sixties (Chris Waller/Damian Lane) - $3.20

Winning Time: 1:35.70  Last 600m: N/A

Margins: ½L x Short Head

Beaten jockey comments:

Jamie Melham (Planet Red): "He ran fantastic and if he drew a gate, he wins, and if there was a bit more tempo. We had to take our medicine from that gate and he ran well again."

Ben Allen (West Of Swindon): "Very good. I still think the horse has some improvement. We were only a few strides off the winner but he found the pinch late."

Damian Lane (Sixties): "Good run. Very honest."

Luke Cartwright (Bingi): "I thought he was super. I thought he boxed on well and didn't get beaten far by some handy horses."

Ben Melham (Officiate): "He ran ok but I just feel he may be better as a gelding."

Daniel Stackhouse (Romantic Encounter): "He flew the gates. He was in a nice tempo, comfortable an happy. When we straightened up, he went with them and he just got tired late."

Zac Spain (Victorious Spirit): "He ran super. He showed fight again and every time you ask him to step up he keeps stepping up."

Thomas Stockdale (Onavuitton): "Still working into his fitness. Rode him cold because of that today. It became a bit of a sit-and-sprint which didn't suit him. He let go really well and showed a nice turn-of-foot. He'll be aided by this run ready for the next one."

Patrick Moloney (Express Class): "He was honest. First time drawing the inside and asking him to extend inside horses. It was new to him and he got exposed today and he didn't have that same turn-of-foot that he had from the outside."

RANDWICK

Group 1 - TAB Verry Elleegant Stakes

(3yo+ WFA - 1600m)

Race Result:

1st: Autumn Glow (C Waller/J McDonald) - $1.26F
2nd: Aeliana (C Waller/Z Lloyd) - $12
3rd: Sir Delius (G Waterhouse & A Bott/C Williams) - $8

Winning Time: 1:35.55 Last 600m: 33.27

Margins: Long Neck x 3½L

Beaten jockey comments:

Chad Schofield (Ceolwulf): "A stepping stone into his preparation. Obviously he travelled well with the good run. Probably needed the run late."

Craig Williams (Sir Delius): "Great performance first up. The winner is an exceptional horse. The winner and second horse have had a run under their belt and they were too sharp. They sprinted better than my horse today but loved his performance first up."

Nash Rawiller (Lindermann): "Might have found the track a bit shifty I reckon. It has dried out a bit but sometimes when they don't get that footing, it can be worse than a heavy track. He has done it a couple of times where he hasn't gone. Today was that occasion."

Adam Hyeronimus (Wootton Verni): "Very good. He is ready to rock and roll in the right race. 2000m and a soft track will be hard to beat."

Tommy Berry (Soul Of Spain): "Pretty exciting performance from a horse that is going to get over further. He is in great order this preparation. Look out for him when he gets to 2000m+."

Sam Clipperton (Valiant King): "He has had a nice little pipe opener. Hasn't run too bad at all."

Tim Clark (Trinity College): "I thought the last bit of his race was really good through the line. He will continue to improve as he gets over further."

Zac Lloyd (Aeliana): "Unbelievable run. She is absolutely airborne. A great horse race."

Group 1 - The Chase Surround Stakes

(3yo F SW - 1400m)

Race Result:

1st: Tempted (C Maher/C Schofield) - $1.60F
2nd: Savvy Hallie (B Widdup/N Rawiller) - $10
3rd: Ole Dancer (P Moody & K Coleman/Z Lloyd) - $9

Winning Time: 1:22.07 Last 600m: 34.38

Margins: Long Head x 1¾L

Beaten jockey comments:

Tommy Berry (Apocalyptic): "Just got to get the team to go over her when she gets home. She didn't stretch out great in the run. Got on one rein and wanted to hang around the bend which isn't obviously her go. Didn't stretch out in the straight so it's not the Apocalyptic we know."

Zac Lloyd (Ole Dancer): "She is a pleasure to ride. She probably didn't break the gates too well. Didn't want to sit behind Tempted and be dictated too. So let her stride and I thought she was very gallant up the straight."

Nash Rawiller (Savvy Hallie): "Outstanding performance. Heartbreaking to get beaten. I loved her tenacity. Made Tempted really work for it. She was great."

Sam Clipperton (Karinska): "She has run a super honest race. Just lacks that killer punch the last furlong. She stuck to her task well."

Jason Collett (Sunrays): "A bit disappointed."

James McDonald (Panova): "She just hit a flat spot at the 400m. Ground to the line well."

Craig Williams (Queen Of Clubs): "She is on a path towards the Oaks. That was a good second up run for her. She is right on where Trainer Gary Portelli would like her to go I assuming second up."
