Melhams dominate, Reserve Bank's rise

Jamie Melham has predicted the best is yet to come for exciting three-year-old Reserve Bank after his Group 1 Goodwood victory at Morphettville on the weekend.

Reserve Bank dominated the 2025 Adelaide Racing Carnival, winning three successive features as he upstaged his older rivals, beating Sir Sway and Giga Kick in the $1m feature to give Jamie Melham a second successive Goodwood after winning with Benedetta a year earlier.

Jamie Melham said she was forced to reassess her pre-race plans on the turn, getting on the back of local Sir Sway before they unleashed a powerful burst race past his rivals.

"There was a lot of luck involved, the gaps came and I had the horse underneath me,'' Melham said.

"At the 600m I was second last, I had to ride for luck, and luckily, luck came.

"There's definitely bigger things to come for him,'' she said.

The Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr-trained galloper enjoyed a brilliant Adelaide Racing Carnival, winning the Listed Redelva Stakes and Group 2 Tobin Bronze Stakes before his Group 1 Goodwood success.

Reserve Bank was the second leg of riding double for Melham after winning the Group 3 Breeder's Stakes for Dan Clarken and Oopy MacGillivray earlier in the day aboard Steel Trap.

"She's a very nice filly,'' Melham said.

Melham shared riding honours with husband Ben, who scored early in the day aboard the Michael Hickmott-trained Wine Barron before claiming the Listed Centaurea Stakes aboard Gregory Hickman's Private Legacy.

Former local apprentice Zac Spain grabbed an SA feature with Litzdeel in the Group 3 SA Fillies Classic, while the Lachlan Neindorf and Phillip Stokes combination claimed the Group 3 Cummings Stakes (Formerly R A Lee Stakes) with Regal Azmon.

Tom Dabernig also landed an SA feature with Cleo Cat scoring impressively in the Group 3 Proud Miss Stakes with Jordan Childs in the saddle.
