U.S. Focus now moves north
Saturday's main action will be at Aquaduct
It's a "Belmont at the Big A" meeting with two Grade 2 and a Grade 3 of interest. The first of the Gr2s is the Man o' War over 2200m on the turf with five entries. Far Bridge for Christophe Clement is odds on favourite here on 3/5 with Rosario on board. With such a small field it looks like he just has to stay upright to win. Anglophile on 5/2 for Lynch-Castellano looks best of the rest. The Ruffian also Gr 2 is for f&m over 1600m with 11 starters. My Mane Squeeze on 7/2 for Maker-Franco heads the call at present with Sterling Silver the next best on 9/2 for Mott-Castellano and then it's down to 5/1 for Jody's Pride (Abreu- Rosario).
The Peter Pan Gr 3 is over 1800m for the 3yos with 10 to run. This is seen as a prep for the Belmont Stakes. Captain Cook is on2/1 for Dutrow-Franco and this son of Practical Joke looks special. Hill Road by Quality Road is on 5/2 for Brown-Prat and there are several horses on 8/1 and the one of those we like best is Uncaged, a Curlin colt for Pletcher-Carmouche.
Kentucky Derby winner Sovereignty is not going to the Preakness and is already at Bill Mott's stables in Saratoga where he will resume work later in the week with an eye to a run in the Belmont. People now are questioning the timetable of the Triple Crown races as after slogging through the mud at Churchill Downs horses need a bit of a rest.
Journalism will probably go to the Preakness.
