Treasurethe Moment on song for Futurity test
Multiple Group 1 winner Treasurethe Moment will step out in the Futurity Stakes at Caulfield.
Trainer Matt Laurie is confident he has Treasurethe Moment in as good a shape for her first-up run at Caulfield as she was when resuming in the spring.
Treasurethe Moment won the Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield in the spring to kick-start her campaign and the four-year-old returns over the same course and distance in the Group 1 Futurity Stakes on Saturday.
Laurie took Treasurethe Moment to Caulfield for her final gallop under regular rider Damian Lane on Tuesday and afterwards declared the mare on song for Saturday's assignment.
He said Treasurethe Moment had taken him and his staff on an exceptional ride as the mare looks to add another Group 1 victory to her CV.
"I couldn't be more proud of the horse and in her last three preparations she's been able to knock off some Group 1's, and hopefully she can do it for a fourth time," Laurie said.
"I've got a similar feeling as when we went into the Memsie, but I'm not sure where the speed is going to be in this particular race.
"Damian will just ride our horse how he finds her on the day, but I wouldn't have changed anything.
"She was very much on the ball and wanting to get on with the job and I think she is in a good headspace and ready to go."
Laurie said the way this preparation had unfolded was similar to previous ones.
He said Treasurethe Moment was now a stronger version than the one that raced in the spring and one that was aware of what is required when she gets on the truck to be taken away for a trial, a gallop or a race.
"She's a bit older, a bit stronger and she's very aware every time we put her on a track nowadays," Laurie said.
"I can't wait to kick her off and see where the preparation leads.
"Coming into this preparation I was of the feeling that I would give her a light one, give her nice break for another crack at the Cox Plate.
"We'll run in the Futurity, then the All-Star Mile then we'll play it by ear after that.
"She's an incredible horse and I feel very privileged to have her."
Treasurethe Moment will face off against eight opponents on Saturday that include Cox Plate runner-up Buckaroo, Evaporate, Feroce and Leica Lucy.
