Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for January 31.
Major metropolitan meetings are today held at Rosehill, Caulfield, Morphettville, Ascot and Eagle Farm.
ROSEHILL: RACE 8 @ 4:45 PM
FIRE STAR (7) deep into the campaign and due for a change of luck on the backup. Loomed strongly before he tired late when fifth to Sandpaper over 1400m in the LR Carrington Stakes at Randwick last Saturday. Back to his right trip and can put these to the sword on the limit weight. ENRICHED (6) Group winning entire who resumes from a lengthy spell. Proven first-up and looks ready to go after he impressed in two trials. Visors go on and has genuine top-three prospects. DISNECK (5) worthy first-up winner when he swamped them late to take out the G3 Standish Handicap at Flemington over this trip. Goes just as well second-up and sure to be thereabouts. THE INSTRUCTOR (2) engaged in a speed duel at his second run back with a tiring seventh over 1200m in the Magic Millions Snippets at the Gold Coast. Fitter now but this is no easier. Take on trust. ZARASTRO (1) proven Queensland sprinter with a good record at this track and trip. Resumes with the two trials and regular rider comes to town.
SELECTIONS: Fire Star looks hard to hold out back to the 1200m.

CAULFIELD: RACE 7 @ 3:45 PM
AVIATRESS (4) clearly looks the one to beat. She's been in fine form this campaign, winning the Village Stakes here three back, close up in her next two against the boys. She gave away 4kg to Disneck in the G3 Standish Handicap at Flemington last time and ran very well. Back to mare's grade here at set weights and drawn well, it looks a good scenario. WROTE TO ARATAKI (1) looks the blowout hope at odds. She resumes here with the peak figures to challenge. She's better over a touch further but has run some good races around this level and draws for every chance here. CIGAR FLICK (8) has been okay in two runs back in Sydney. She likes finding bad luck but has the turn of foot to challenge. A LITTLE DEEP (7) wasn't far away behind Hedged last time which ties in with Aviatress. She goes well fresh and has claims.
SELECTIONS: Backing Aviatress & Wrote To Arataki.
MORPHETTVILLE: RACE 9 @ 4:07 PM
FLOREY (5) has gone to a new level this time in and looks very hard to stop. Is drawn to advantage for Toeroek and looks perfectly placed out to the mile. Very hard to beat. MELLIFLUENT (4) keeps knocking on the door, narrowly denied again last time. Stays at the mile, where he does his best work, and draws to get the A1 spot. Have to take seriously. MAGARTEN (3) has mixed his form this prep but gets things going again last time when closing strongly into third. Loves this trip and should be nearing his peak. Can threaten. SECOND FIX (10) is building nicely and gets a nice pull at the weights over Florey. Ready to fire third-up, though is drawn horribly. Needs some luck. CHUR NIBBLE (11) gave another bold sight last start but couldn't match the winner late. Drops back to the mile off a month in-between and is drawn to advantage. Will be in this for a very long way.
SELECTIONS: Florey to win again.
ASCOT: RACE 8 @ 4:52 PM
REDBACK FLYER (6) was a good winner fresh before a 1.9L defeat last time out when sitting on the speed over the mile. He's a progressive type and he draws a little softer this time around. Can improve again now third-up into the campaign and he can get back to winning ways. CASHEL PALACE (3) won well two back before a 2.2L defeat over the 1400m journey last time out. Out to the mile now and the Blinkers go on for the first time. Draws better now and she can make her presence felt. DENNIS CHOUX (7) stuck on well last start over 1500m and the slight rise in trip again today is ideal. Can lob just off the speed from a favourable alley and he boasts a good third-up record. Can put his best foot forward. DEAMBER (5) wasn't beaten far last week and has to be included on that effort. GINGER GREEN (4) is better than we saw last start and can bounce back off a freshen.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Redback Flyer.
EAGLE FARM: RACE 3 @ 2:28 PM
BRINDAVAN (2) appreciated the drop in grade and won in great style over the mile at Doomben last start, coming from well back to just arrive in time. That followed a 32-day break so there is plenty of improvement to come, particularly out to this trip on a bigger track. THAT'S MOLLY (4) was only beaten three lengths in Listed company two back then struggled to run a strong 2050m last time out. Nicely in after the claim and this is a much more suitable assignment. Big chance on an eight-day back-up. NOBLE CONQUEROR (7) tried hard but found Brindavan a bit too good when they clashed at Doomben recently. Stormed home to win here at this trip two back. Cannot be left out of calculations. Veteran WAPITI (3) is back in a more suitable race today and can improve.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Brindavan.
