Tabcorp Park Menangle Preview & Best Bets – Saturday, 5th July 2025

The in-form Ubetcha Tigerpie gets his chance to stretch his winning streak to four when he tackles another suitable assignment at Menangle on Saturday night.

Race-by-race preview of Menangle, Saturday July 5

Race 1: D M PLUMBING PACE

MIRACULOUS (2) has been good in his two starts here since crossing from New Zealand, coming from a wider barrier to win in his first outing for the Grimson yard before a second from this barrier last time. His record at this distance stands at two wins and a placing from four attempts. Big chance. SOHO SPECTRE (9) finished behind Miraculous when placed two back then delivered a narrow win over further last week. Draws wide but with even luck could make it consecutive wins. FRANCO TYSON (3) was held up when midfield last week and won from this barrier prior so is in the mix. HY POACTIVE (7) must be respected after overcoming the widest barrier in scoring by 6 metres here last start. DOUBLE ACT (5) draws wider than in recent outings but the form reads well.

Race 2: BESTINBEDS.COM.AU PACE

DUKES CHOICE (1) is a newcomer to the Jarrod Alchin yard from Victoria and should relish the ace draw having scored from there in similar grade three starts back at Melton. Finds a winnable assignment in his first local outing. KAIRAKI DELIGHT (11) was a beaten favourite here last start but was less than 6m from the winner. He draws deep but has shown enough to measure up in this line up. PLAY IT COOL (10) is another starting from out wide but he only went under narrowly over further last start and won easily at this circuit and distance last month. THE METAL FLYER (9) was solid enough from this barrier last start and could get into the finish.

Race 3: SUCCESS STUD PACE

CRAFTMANS CHARLIE (6) was having his first start for six weeks when he came from a similar draw to be beaten less than 4m last week. He'll be better for that and the prior form reads well having recorded back-to-back placings. Finds the right assignment. VAN BASTEN (7) returned to winning form two back then was held up here last start. Goes well at this shorter distance so worth another chance. MR TEDDY (1) led and dug deep to win two back at Newcastle before placing from a wider barrier last time. This is stronger but he has the speed to take advantage of the inside draw. ARGGGHHH (9) switches from Victoria. Draws wide but has a couple of recent Melton placings under the belt. Could measure up. ROLL UP (8) draws wide again but was only 4m off the winner last week and came from this barrier when he won here last month.

Race 4: CLUB MENANGLE WARATAH FINAL

MAMMALS RIDDLE (3) comes to the city in good form, scoring his third win from his last five starts at Newcastle when he led from a couple of spots wider to score by 1.7m. Can push forward again from the low draw and that could see him hard to stop. NOSAER (7) made it two wins in a row when he came from this barrier to find the front and score by 5.6m at Dubbo last start. He has more upside than many of these. KARAOKE KING (8) is another coming off back-to-back wins, the latest when off this barrier at Newcastle. Chance to land the hat trick. OUR REBEL YELL (6) is another deserving of respect after returning to winning form in the latest outing at Wagga.

Race 5:  ULTRA AIR PACE

UBETCHA TIGERPIE (7) is in a purple patch of form having made it three in a row at this circuit when digging for a Listed win last week. Back to the mile but came from a similar draw to this when he scored over the distance prior. Hard to knock winning form. HORN PLAYER (1) has been ultra consistent this time in, adding to a series of top-three finishes with a win here two back and a last-start third from this barrier to Ubetcha Tigerpie. Has 1.8m to make up on that rival but he strikes at 50 per cent at the mile so the distance drop suits. NO HEART THROB (3) draws better than in the last-start fourth and is another who will enjoy the mile with eight wins and five placings from 16 tries here. MAJOR PERRY (6) hasn't been too far from the top two selections of late and can be competitive again. CURLY JAMES (10) draws widest but is good enough to be in the finish with some luck.

Race 6:  CONFEDERATE STANDING AT COBBITTY EQUINE FARM LADYSHIP PACE

MISSAUDACIOUS (6) beat several of these rivals when she came from this barrier for a 1.7m win at this circuit and distance last week. She is a mare on the up and could go on with it. BELLA DANZA (9) did a good job to dig deep and land a narrow win in her last appearance at this venue. Cops a wider draw this time but is going well enough to overcome it. EVER ART (10) draws widest but was a solid fourth to Missaudacious from the same barrier last week and got within a nose of Bella Danza prior. Going well and can be in the finish again. ONYX SHARD (1) placed from this draw at her Australian debut here two back and won at Wagga since so expect her to be competitive. MY CRACKLING ROSIE (8) came from a similar barrier when runner-up to Missaudacious last week and beat that rival when wining here three back so respect.

Race 7: SUMMERTIME PREMIUM POULTRY TROTTERS DISCRETIONARY HANDICAP

TORO STRIDE (12) is building in fitness and could be close to his best after placing in two of his last three starts here. Prefer him over the mile but has won at this distance before and finds a suitable assignment. HOT TO TROT (7) overcame a 40m handicap when he won here two back and started favourite last start but was let down by manners. Has had seven weeks off but has been kept up to the mark with a trial win. Can win from the front mark if he gets it right. TOP OF THE MOMENT (10) hasn't been far away from wide draws in his last two outings and has performed well from standing starts before. COURAGE STRIDE (8) is heading the right way, improving last time out to finish second at this venue.

Race 8: HRNSW THREE YEAR OLD TROT NSW FINAL (GROUP 2)

MISS OHANA (7) beat a handy field when digging deep to win at this circuit last start, continuing her strong form that included a placing in the G1 NSW Trotters Derby three back. Draws a little wider than last time but her form stands out. SAN JUAN MOUNTAIN (6) has 8m to make up on Miss Ohana through their last clash but he has been consistent, the last-start third from this barrier giving him two wins and two placings from the past five attempts here. Looks the main danger. KENNYS SON (1) is still a maiden but has produced some decent efforts this time in and draws to advantage while JACKIES GIFT (4) could be competitive with her best form.

Race 9: HRNSW TWO YEAR OLD TROT NSW FINAL (GROUP 2)

GLADIATRIX (4) blotted her form line when she galloped out and lost all chance last time but she had looked talented in winning her other four starts, all of them at this circuit and distance. With manners she can return to her winning ways. CEE CEE IN PARIS (3) capitalised on Gladiatrix's mistake when winning here last start. Had finished just a head behind that rival in the previous clash so from the good draw is a big danger. ALDEBARAN TUCKER (2) gave a sight when she led and stuck on for third behind Cee Cee In Paris last time. Draws well and could progress further third up. IM DREAMING (5) is best of the other two roughies.

BEST BETS:

Race 2 #1 Dukes Choice – Newcomer from Victoria who gets the right draw for his local debut.

Race 3 #6 Craftmans Charlie – Good effort off a let-up last week and should have come on.
